Health Education Framework information for families
On May 8, 2019, the State Board of Education approved a new framework for health education, including recommendations for teaching sex education that aligns with the California Healthy Youth Act, the state's comprehensive sex ed law.

No curriculum is changing in Folsom Cordova for the upcoming school year.

This fall, the District will hold a series of public input sessions across our schools to gather stakeholder feedback. This feedback will be used to recommend new curriculum to the Board of Education. Upon approval, the changes would take effect in the 2020-21 school year.

Information about upcoming public input sessions will be announced in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, in an effort to provide channels for open, two-way communication, the District has developed some answers to the most common questions we've fielded to date.

Visit www.fcusd.org/healthframework for detailed information, and opportunities to provide feedback.
FMS earned first place in Club Live's Chapter Challenge competition
Congratulations to Folsom Middle School for earning the first place in Club Live's Chapter Challenge Competition! Club Live of FMS competed with 33 other middle schools in the Sacramento County on April 12.

The Chapter Challenge is a program designed to help all chapters (schools running Club Live on campus) to be successful and is an excellent opportunity for its members to thrive and build their leadership skills. Points are earned for hosting meetings, organizing activities and implementing projects throughout the school year.

About two dozen students in grades 6-8 are currently participating in Club Live at Folsom Middle. The club is supervised by 6th grade math teacher Anita Kamath.

FMS received a plaque with the school's name engraved on it. The plaque is proudly displayed in the front office.
What we heard: Input from Education Town Halls and spending plan survey
From February through April, hundreds of teachers, support staff, families, and students offered their feedback on how Folsom Cordova should prioritize its resources to support student success.

Nearly 240 of them participated in seven Education Town Halls, leaving more than 1,000 thoughts about school performance, culture and climate, and college and career readiness. Another 820 left their feedback in a Districtwide survey.

What common themes arose from all of this input?

Infographic: Click here , or visit www.fcusd.org/lcap , for a graphic summary of participants and the patterns and trends that emerged from their input.

What's next? This input will be used to update our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), our guiding plan for supporting our highest-need students and measuring whether those actions are effective. A District working group representing teachers, administrators, parents and others will finalize draft revisions to the LCAP later this month and will present them to the Board of Education in June as part of the annual budget adoption process.
