MTSD Employee Recognition
Our dedicated employees are essential to the work of educating students; they are our most valuable asset in achieving our shared mission to ignite student potential. Each year we recognize educators and staff members who have achieved milestone years of service , those who have been recognized as outstanding educators and professionals, and those who have decided to retire and move on to the next chapter of their lives. Please watch this brief video to learn more about our outstanding award winners and retiring staff members.

School Nutrition Update
The Health and Wellness Committee (comprised of staff, administrators, students, parents, and community specialists) has focused on several topics this school year, including school nutrition. The committee developed recommendations for changes or enhancements to school nutrition and the food service program, and district administrators have planned next steps to be implemented in 2019-20.
Thank you to our committee members! We look forward to continuing the work next school year.
Rumor Has It ...
It’s no secret that, at 7:25 a.m., Homestead High School’s start time is early in the morning. You may have heard through the grapevine that we had been analyzing a potential opportunity to push back the start time for Homestead High School by making some innovative adjustments to bus routing. It’s important to note that bus transportation is a critical factor in discussions of shifting school start times.

After continued analysis and discussion with our transportation partner, Riteway, it has become evident that, at this time, we cannot take the next steps to engage families in gathering feedback on a proposed plan to adjust start times for the 2019-20 school year. But, we are continuing to analyze our school start times, and we will keep you updated and engaged in the topic in the upcoming school year.
There's An App for That!
Wouldn't it be great to know exactly when the bus was going to arrive? MTSD, there is now an app for that! We are excited to roll out an innovative mobile app and website called "Here Comes the Bus." Here Comes the Bus allows your family to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on a smartphone, tablet, or computer, using the GPS technologies with which each school bus is equipped.

Here Comes the Bus lets families:
  • See the location of your child’s bus both before and after school
  • Confirm that your child’s bus has arrived at the bus stop, at school or both
  • Receive a push notification (text) or email message when the bus is near your stop, has been substituted, or when we have important information to relay

We invite families to download the app and begin to use it now!
