Up to now we have been focusing on our field personnel. But if we did not have folks at home, manning the ship, we would not be able to send folks to other countries. This month we want to focus on two ladies who are key to the work of NLAI, Maggie Aldana and Christy Swaringen.
June 2018
Meet our Staff:
Maggie Aldana & Christy Swaringen
Maggie Aldana
Vice President of Administration

How long have you served with NLAI?
Thirteen years, since 2005.

What is your favorite part about your work with NLAI?
I'm so grateful I get to work alongside the most selfless and giving people in the world. I have been privileged to go into all the world from my desk in Houston as I serve them and those who have gone before. I count it all joy.

Tell us about your family:
I have been happily married for 28 1/2 years to Daniel Aldana, we have 3 sons  Christian, Jonathan and Emmanuel,   who have grown up serving God in Worship Ministry,  2 daughters in love who are also committed to serving Him, Abbey and Marissa and 2 adorable grandchildren, Declan and RubyTru that are the icing on the cake, I am so thankful to the Lord for for counting us worthy of such a blessing.

How can we pray for you?
Please pray for my family for God's provision of jobs, promotions and guidance and deliverance. Most of all, I ask your prayers for my family to love the Lord with all of our hearts,  soul, strength and minds.

Christy Swaringen
Communications Director

How long have you served with NLAI?
My husband and I served at NLCH during the summer of 2007. I began working part-time with NLAI in communications in 2010.

What is your favorite part about your work with NLAI?
I love the opportunity to stay in close contact with NLCH, a place that is very special to us. I'm also grateful that I can lend support in social media and communications, two other areas about which I'm passionate.

Tell us about your family:
My husband and I spent our first anniversary in Guatemala, and now we're coming up on our twelfth. We're amazed at the way the Lord has grown and stretched our family through biological kids, foster care, and adoption. Our three kids are Nate (7, bio), Kamila (4, adopted) and Eli (2, bio). We've been licensed foster parents for five years and are currently fostering a sweet three-year-old girl.

How can we pray for you?
As you can see, our house is full of energy, enthusiasm and noise! I would selfishly ask your prayers for peace between kids and calm in my own heart. Having a 2, 3 and 4-year-old at home gives me ample opportunity to seek the fruit of the Spirit in my life daily! Gal 5:22-23 has kind of become my mantra: "Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control." "Love, joy, peace, patience..."

Guatemala Volcano Update

Search and rescue efforts have ended and the hard work of rebuilding has begun for the victims of the volcano eruption on June 3. The current death toll is just above 100. Thank you so much for all of your prayers, concern and financial support during this devastating event in our country.

Some of our young men were able to help unload trucks full of water at our church, Fraternidad Cristiana de Guatemala.

NLAI is still receiving funds to help with relief efforts and to support children and families affected by the tragedy.  You can  give online  and designate the "Guatemala Disaster Relief" fund, or sending a check with "Guatemala Disaster Relief" in the memo to NLAI, PO Box 35857, Houston, TX 77235-5857. One hundred percent of funds will go directly to disaster relief efforts.
