Margaret Gunawan
Managing Director, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, BlackRock Asset Management Canada Limited

Margaret Gunawan, Managing Director, is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for BlackRock’s Canadian business. In her current role, Margaret leads a team of legal and compliance professionals, in providing day-to-day advice and support on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues and strategic projects. Margaret brings over 15 years of experience across investment management and investment funds work, including both public and private funds, securities, pension, general corporate and tax issues affecting registered firms in Canada. As a key member of the Canadian senior management team, she sits on the Canada Executive Committee. Margaret works closely with industry associations and regulators on regulatory development and advocacy issues for BlackRock and the investment management industry. She is a board member of the Portfolio Management Association of Canada and chairs its Industry Regulatory & Tax Committee. She is also a member of the Policy Committee of the Canadian ETF Association and a member of Women in Capital Markets. Given her experience in the changing regulatory environment, Margaret has been an active participant on advocacy issues impacting the industry, which includes speaking at events, writing submissions on new regulatory initiatives and participating in meetings with regulators and government officials to discuss market trends and the impact of proposed regulatory changes on investors. Prior to joining BlackRock, Margaret was a counsel at the Royal Bank of Canada, specializing in wealth management, focusing on investment products, retail distribution, estates and trusts. She began her career as an associate at several Toronto law firms. Margaret earned a BA degree in anthropology from the University of Western Ontario and a graduate degree from the Osgoode Hall Law School.

Jeannine LiChong
Portfolio Manager, Waratah Capital Advisors

Jeannine joined Waratah Capital Advisors in 2018 after a successful 22-year career at Gluskin Sheff + Associates. She is a shareholder and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Jeannine is a Portfolio Manager for the Waratah Income Fund. In her previous role, she was an Executive Vice-President and Portfolio Manager in Canadian Equities, responsible for managing $2.6 billion, and a member of both its Management and Asset Mix Committees. Early in her career, she was in the management training program at Canadian Pacific, and also worked at Deloitte. She is currently a trustee of the Toronto Symphony Foundation and is a past board member of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Jeannine received an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Waterloo, and also holds a CPA, CA, and CFA designations.

Lindsay Patrick
Managing Director and Head, Sustainable Finance, RBC Capital Markets

Lindsay Patrick is Managing Director and Head of the Sustainable Finance Group at RBC Capital Markets. She spearheads the provision of solutions and advice for RBC’s institutional and corporate clients across all areas of sustainable finance, incorporating both environmental and social perspectives. Lindsay has more than 15 years of global investment banking experience spanning trading floors across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. She started her career with RBC Capital Markets in investment banking in Toronto and followed with a 10-year stint overseas with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London, where she held a variety of positions, including the Head of Global Equity Sales and Director of Macro Sales within the Global Equity Derivatives group. Lindsay returned to Toronto following her time in Europe and was most recently the Global ETF Strategist for RBC Capital Markets. Lindsay is a co-chair for R-Women Canada, RBC Capital Markets’ employee-led resource group dedicated to fostering women’s career development within the bank, and is actively involved with the Women in Capital Markets organization. Lindsay received her MBA with Honours in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, her BBA with Honours in International Business from Bishop’s University and is a CFA Charterholder. She is also on the Board of Directors for Children First Canada and is an active volunteer with the Halton District School Board, the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club and the Oakville Soccer Club. Lindsay is the proud mother of four young boys.
