Hello Suzuki families,

*Please make note of the SSSG Spring Concert this Sunday April 29.
Please remember to order/pick up your two complimentary tickets asap (the deadline to do so is April 27-today). (See details below)
*Pre paid grocery card families are encouraged to pick up May cards at the Concert in the lobby pre or post concert.


Please know that the deadline to register for the SSSG 2018/19 is  May 1.
No child's classes will be scheduled until registrations are in.

PURCHASING INFORMATION for Suzuki String School Families
  River Run Centre tickets are now Electronic.
Avoid Box Office line-ups! Have your tickets emailed to you! Simply present your ticket to our ushers, who will scan it for entry.

Download tickets from your confirmation email to your mobile device, or send to your printer.

SSSG Bursary & Iris Tyron Memorial Scholarship iris
I The SSSG has a Bursary Fund to assist students in financial need. Applications for assistance are reviewed by a committee that is independent of the school.
  • Bursary application forms can be downloaded using the link below.
  • Bursary assistance is dependent on the availability of bursary money and on the family's financial need.
  • NEW: Bursaries are open to first year students.
  • Deadline for bursary application submission is May 29th. Response to request will be made no later than June 30th

II Iris Tryon Memorial Scholarship
Iris Tryon's love for music is the founding reason for the creation of this memorial scholarship in her name. Through this scholarship, may the gift of music, which she shared with each of her students over her lifetime of teaching, continue beyond it.

The Iris Tryon Memorial Scholarship is a bursary for full tuition for one school year.
Two categories:
  1. Students who have been in the school for 5 or more years
  2. Students who have been in the school for 1 to 4 years 
     
The criteria for each category is as follows:
1. Students who have been in the school for 5 or more years
  • Essay written by the student about what their music lessons means to them.
  • Letter of recommendation from the teacher. 
  • Proof of financial need (preceding year income-tax report) and letter from parent explaining the need.
     
2. Students who have been in the school for 1 to 4 years
Deadline to apply: post mark  May 29

SSSG Swag to order! att
Interested in some new Suzuki Swag - and support the school spirit?  

We have designed a new logo to help celebrate the 45th anniversary of the school and partnered with SpiritWear Canada on a group of clothing options sporting the new 45th Anniversary Logo.

All sales with this new partner are handled online with ordered being delivered to the school and distributed via your teacher and the private lessons.

Profits from the sales will go towards the school's fundraising campaign to help build the bursary.

We have a few weeks to shore up orders - the last day for orders is May 7th.  Items will be available in mid-May.

GSO April 28 concert gso

The premiere of The Rite of Spring forever changed the path of 20th Century music. The Guelph Symphony Orchestra presents an onstage talk, re-enactment of the riotous event, and then one of the most exciting masterpieces of the orchestral repertoire.
Sat. April 28, 7:30pm at River Run Centre. Tickets available through the River Run Box Office.
 
Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute sosi
What is S.O.S.I.? Want to Learn More....a S.O.S.I team will be at St. George's Church on  April 21 outside of Palmer Hall to answer your questions!
Come to Canada's largest Suzuki institute, offering programs for all ages.  Explore our web site and discover the complete range of string and piano programs, complete with four levels of orchestra and lots of optional classes!

We have programs for children of all ages through the teen years: Sibling Class for siblings aged 4 and 5; Mini Institute in violin, viola, cello, and piano (a morning program for Book 1 students only); 
Junior, Intermediate & Senior programs in violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano  PLUS!   A wide variety of exciting optional courses.



Young Artist Program
The Young Artist Program classes are open to senior students of violin, cello and piano, and provide instruction in a setting that moves towards traditional music college/university teaching while maintaining roots in Suzuki philosophy and pedagogy. Video auditions are due May 1st.
