The Rev. Dr. Micah T.J. Jackson Named President of Bexley Seabury Seminary

On May 17, the Board of Directors named
The Rev. Dr. Micah T.J. Jackson
as Bexley Seabury Seminary’s new president. He will assume his duties on June 1, 2018 and his installation will take place in the Fall.
Dr. Jackson holds an MTS in Preaching from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, an MDiv from Meadville Lombard Theological School, and a PhD in Homiletics/Liturgy from Graduate Theological Union. He is the author of a forthcoming book from Church Publishing,
Preaching Face to Face: An Invitation to Conversational Preaching.
Dr. Jackson grew up in Hyde Park. He and his wife Laura are looking forward to introducing their son Benjamin to Chicago.
“I am looking forward to returning to the Seminary,” he said. “We know that patterns of life and work are changing, and it isn’t always possible to pack up a family for a three year sojourn at a residential seminary. Theological education is going to have to learn to accommodate people who can’t move, yet who have a genuine call to be educated for their ministry, whatever it is. Bexley Seabury is way ahead of the curve in this area, and students and bishops are recognizing it,” he commented.
“I know what I love about Bexley Seabury, but I want to know what our alums and friends love,” he continued. I hope they’ll tell me by email, by phone, by stopping by our booth at General Convention, or by attending (or hosting) one of the Meet the New President events we’ll be scheduling all over the country in the coming months.”

May 18 was graduation day for 10 Bexley Seabury students. The Celebration of Commencement and Holy Eucharist was live-streamed from St. Paul & the Redeemer Episcopal Church in Hyde Park for those unable to attend in person.

Congregations... church organizations... judicatories—all need strong leaders to make a difference. Our annual Bexley Seabury Leadership Institute helps lay and ordained teams at all levels become more confident and effective.
Participants interact and collaborate with one another and with faculty from Bexley Seabury and the Kellogg School Center for Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University's downtown campus, located a brief walk from St. James Commons, home to St. James Cathedral and the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago. Topics that 2018 Institute participants will explore are:

- Leadership in 5G: Multiple Generations in the Workplace and Church
