2018 Youth Development Symposium.

Over 200 practitioners, directors and policy makers attended the Community of Practice's Youth Development and Mentoring Symposium on May 22nd and 23rd at the Universities at Shady Grove. Participants discussed the latest research on youth development and heard from acclaimed experts in the field, including Karen Pittman, CEO of the Forum for Youth Investment, and Sadiq Ali, Director of Maryland MENTOR. Symposium attendees also participated in 10 breakout workshops on topics ranging from trauma informed care to writing winning grant proposals. Closing out the event, the 2017-2018 Mentoring Fellows were recognized for their participation and dedication to youth mentoring in Montgomery County.
One special feature of the Symposium this year included a preview of the new Youth Development NOW online learning platform. In this session, participants got a sneak peek of key features and functions of the website and shared valuable feedback in small group discussions. Youth Development NOW will officially launch this summer to help practitioners, managers and supervisors connect 24/7 with immediate access to a resource library, discussion boards, job postings, and more.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Youth Development and Mentoring Symposium for your time and dedication to championing youth success!

ACE Academy
ACE Academy had the best year ever! The students at Park Montgomery decided that their service learning project would be the creation of a Freedom Bench. The writing on the bench says "welcome" in several different languages.  The bench is placed in front of the new playground at Park Montgomery and for the community to use.

Thank you!

May was a season of transition for our team as we officially said goodbye to Lynn Sobolov, our EBB Program Manager. Staff threw Lynn a retirement party at Croydon Creek Nature Center in Rockville where they enjoyed great music, food and fellowship. The staff and board of the Collaboration Council want to thank Lynn for her eight years of service and dedication to her work and our community!
