Congratulations to all Brazilian graduates!

On May 5, over 12,000 Ohio State students participated in commencement. The 2019 graduating class size is the largest in the universitys history for the fifth consecutive year. The Ohio State Brazil Gateway wants to congratulate all students who graduated, especially, the five Brazilians who earned their degree! Please, do keep in touch with the Buckeye family in the United States, in Brazil or in any other part of the globe.

Global Community Engagement Conference

From April 14-17, the Brazilian Association for International Education (FAUBAI's conference on global community engagement) was held in the city of Belem, state of Pará, in Brazil. Jane K. Aparecido, director of the Brazil Gateway, represented Ohio State at the conference. Aparecido presented on the importance of an in-country physical presence to help foster meaningful multi-institutional collaborations in Brazil.

MBA Get Together in Brazil

Ohio State MBA students have been in São Paulo for the three-week Global Applied Projects (GAP) consulting program. All are invited to join us on May 23, 6:30-9 p.m. at Quintal Do Espeto Pavao, as we say goodbye and congratulate them on the program participation and results. It will also be a great opportunity for alumni (former Ohio State students) to reconnect and to learn more about the MBA program at Ohio State, life in Columbus, employment and internship opportunities, and more.

Visit to Barretos Cancer Hospital

On April 9, Brazil Gateway Director Jane K. Aparecido visited one of the most advanced oncology hospitals in Brazil, located in the city of Barretos, in the state of São Paulo. Close to 6,000 people are assisted each day in the Brazilian Public Health System, sustained mainly through donations. Jose Otero, MD, with the Ohio State College of Medicine, and Rui Reis, MD, with Barretos Cancer Hospital, plan to collaborate on joint research projects and a conference on digital pathology.

Global Perspectives: Marcella Dias

Felipe Pena, Winsome Cham and I had an amazing experience in Ohio. The seven weeks were full of challenges, lessons and a bit of fun too! First, we had the pleasure to pick three courses from the MBA program at Fisher. We took Corporate Diversiﬁcation, Mergers and Acquisitions and International Finance which provided us with the true academic experience of a Fisher College student! We definitely learned a lot of concepts that we'll be able to apply in our future projects in consultancy.
