INTRODUCING THE WEEKEND AVENGERS
Betsy and Buddy are part of a hunger-fighting team. As the end of the week approaches, they go through extraordinary transformations, becoming heroes in the fight to end childhood hunger. Betsy packs bags of nutritious food, and Buddy is a donor. It takes both volunteers and donors to feed a child on the weekend. It takes YOU!

OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE SUPER
Superheroes are known for making a positive difference in the world and so are Blessings in a Backpack volunteers!

During National Volunteer Week in April, we recognized our volunteers by transforming them into superheroes, highlighting their hard work and dedication. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Blessings in a Backpack. None of what we do would be possible without each and every one of them.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some feed kids on the weekends.
Louisville, Ky.
Texas Roadhouse employees joined Louisville Mayor Greg Fisher to pack 8,000 bags of food for Blessings in a Backpack. The bags will be distributed to kids who attend programing at local parks this summer.
Boerne, Texas
This year's 0.5k raised more than $46,000 for the Blessings program in Boerne. The "race" sold out in less than 40 minutes and offered Virtual Race Packages for "athletes" who preferred to participate from the comfort of their couches.
Southwest Florida
More than 200 kids joined athletes and Tony the Tiger for a healthy breakfast and messages of hope and overcoming adversity at the Breakfast for Champions.
Phoenix, Ariz.
Embracing a rad 1980s theme,
the PGA TOUR Wives took part
in a nine-hole scramble prior to the Waste Management Phoenix Open to raise money to feed the kids at Nevitt Elementary School.
Washington, D.C.
'Get Up DC' recently named volunteer Melissa Palmertree its Neighborhood Hero! Melissa sends 50 kids at Hartwood Elementary home with backpacks full of food every Friday.
Nationwide
Many programs across the country accepted the challenge to sing Happy Birthday to Blessings in a Backpack. Thank you to Hostess for donating CupCakes for our national 10th birthday bashes!
SEASON-LONG PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PGA TOUR UNDERWAY
As part of a season-long partnership, Blessings in a Backpack is included as a philanthropic initiative for the 2019 PGA TOUR Volunteer Appreciation Program, sponsored by Myrbetriq® (mirabegron). In select markets across the country, tournament volunteers are participating in Blessings packing events that directly benefit the children in the community.

So far, more than 8,000 kids took home backpacks full of weekend food thanks to the generous efforts of Astellas Pharma US, Inc. and the PGA TOUR.
