Meet FC member Debbie Wright and learn how she went from private citizen to passionate activist, raising over $600,000 for her first feature-length documentary,
FROM LIBERTY TO CAPTIVITY.
Debbie Wright was working in the pharmaceutical industry in Pennsylvania when the reality of modern-day slavery in America hit very close to home. The FBI descended upon her neighbor's house, finding thousands of pornographic images, many of which were of children being brutalized and raped. Debbie simply could not stand by and do nothing. Her passion to raise awareness about trafficking and slavery lead her to the completion of her FIRST feature-length documentary,
From Liberty to Captivity.
With Filmmakers Collaborative as a fiscal sponsor - and with no prior fundraising experience - Debbie managed to raise over $500,000 in individual donations and $120,000 from foundations to producer her film. She is considering various distribution options and is now traveling around with her film as she continues to raise additional funding.

From Liberty to Captivity searches for the answer to the question of how one of America's original 13 states, Pennsylvania, went from a place that represented freedom to so many became a state where human trafficking and slavery are flourishing.
With its proverbial lens, From Liberty To Captivity will zoom-in on Pennsylvania's booming and profitable sex trafficking industry, which is threatening to destroy the principle of "liberty and justice for all" and reveal the reality and complexities of sex trafficking crimes and this social justice issue and present the very real hope of conquering it.
