Fill Out the Census!
Approximately only 63.1% of households in Florida have completed the Census.

Only 61.7% of households in Miami-Dade have responded.

Please reach out your networks and remind them that federal funding for Florida relies on an accurate count. Programs for health care, education, transportation and housing; strategic planning for private and public organizations and representation depend on an accurate count.

Please continue to push your efforts to have communities fill out the Census. Currently, due to COVID-19, the Census Bureau has decided to shorten their door-to-door efforts to encourage filling out the Census, which will jeopardize accurate numbers, especially in low-income communities.

Executive Order 20-212
Governor DeSantis signed an Executive Order to extend the deadline to earn the minimum qualifications of SAT and ACT scores for Florida's Bright Futures Scholarship Program until December 1, 2020.

Executive Order 20-244
On Friday, September 25th, Governor DeSantis signed Executive Order 20-244 that lifts all business restrictions in the state of Florida effective immediately, and enters the state into Phase 3 of the COVID-19 Recovery Plan. All bars and restaurants can operate at full capacity, and if municipalities have created ordinances that require restrictions on businesses, they must submit reasoning to the state.

$2 Million Committed to Telehealth for
Mental Health Services for Youth
On September 21st, during a mental health roundtable at the Governor’s Mansion, First Lady Casey DeSantis announced that the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) is issuing $2 million in grant funding to 18 rural Florida school districts to increase students’ access to mental health and student support services and to enhance access to school and community-based providers.

These funds are available through the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund, under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, and focus on supporting districts to improve access to school-based mental health services in areas where access to qualified professionals is limited and with lower rates of internet connectivity in local communities.
