S yracuse Welcome 2019
Mark your calendars!

Syracuse Welcome is Syracuse University's new student orientation program. This program is devoted to helping you make a successful transition to Syracuse University. You will not need to travel to campus for a summer orientation program.

August 16 and 17 - International Students
August 18 and 19 -  Pre-Orientation Students (Optional. Please note: dates vary by program.)
August 20 and 22 - Residents of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania (students may select their preferred day beginning June 1)
August 21 - Residents of all remaining states, Puerto Rico, and Canada; any new transfer student* assigned to Skyhalls/South Campus Apartments regardless of state of residency
August 22-25 - Syracuse Welcome
Monday, August 26 - Classes Begin

* New transfer students may move in on any day between August 20-22, but the only assisted move-in day will be August 21.

New domestic students are able to move in to their residence hall based on the state in which they reside. For students from NY, NJ, and PA, you may select your move-in day preference (August 20 or August 22) on the Orientation Registration Form. All new students will need to register for Orientation by completing the Orientation Registration Form available between June 1 and July 15.

Your move-in date and time will be randomly assigned based on your housing assignment and information received from the Orientation Registration Form. Your Arrival and Parking Pass states your move-in date and time and will be automatically created and emailed to your syr.edu email address after your housing assignment is determined and given to you (No Arrival and Parking Passes will be issued before mid-July). There are a limited number of passes for each date and shift.  More information about new student move-in can be found on the  New Student Move-In site.

*New international students are required to move-in on August 16 or 17 to complete mandatory international student orientation requirements. For more information about these requirements and international student move-in, visit the  International Student Orientation website.

Official Syracuse University Color

Orange became the University's official color in 1890 when Syracuse became the first college to adopt only one official color. The original school colors, rose pink and pea green, adopted in 1872 were not popular. Orange was chosen to represent the golden apples of Hesperia; the story of the sunrise and the hope for a golden future. Blue is used as an unofficial accent color.
