An Inspiring Young Woman (And Her Dad)
Meet Lacey Young and her dad, David. David is a longtime superstar transporter for PetConnect Rescue.
After watching and sometimes helping her Dad, Lacey decided she wanted to use a school internship opportunity to explore animal welfare organizations and shelter use. She visited the shelter in Fayetteville, West Virginia, and then last weekend, Lacey and her Dad drove almost
seven hours to the Florence Area Humane Society in South Carolina. Lacey spent some time there learning about the ins and outs of running a shelter.
For her, the hardest part was watching people surrender the animals. While some were upset, many were not. After a couple of days, Lacey and her dad packed up the car and brought back 2 grateful dogs and 4 kittens who are now all up for adoption. This fall, Lacey is headed to Virginia Tech where she will undoubtedly put her stamp on the world. L
