Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care is changing the minimum required staff proficiency score on the ALTA Language Test to 9 or better to allow for billing for interpretation services under the T1013 code.
The change is effective immediately and is NOT retroactive.
We're making this change to ensure our members have immediate access to services in their preferred language during all hours of operation and at all points of contact.
Previously, bilingual staff had to meet a proficiency level of 10 or better on the ALTA Language Test to meet the threshold for billing under the T1013 code.
You should use the attached staff proficiency template to submit an updated list of all your tested bilingual staff. Do not include staff members who have scored less than a 9 on the ALTA Language Test as they are NOT qualified for billing purposes under the T1013 code.
