THE SUMMER 2019 YOUTH MISSION NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We have a lot of luggage to haul on our way to Heifer International Headquarters in Perryville, Arkansas! And all of our seats are currently full of missionaries. We need a small, enclosed trailer to help haul our belongings. We can rent one, but they are very expensive and we are trying to make the most of our mission funds. If you have a trailer that we can borrow from July 27-August 4, please contact Sarah at [email protected] or 303-717-2053. It will make an enormous difference to our mission work!

REGISTER FOR THE BAREFOOT MILE FUNDRAISER!
TAKE ACTION AGAINST CHILD TRAFFICKING
Saturday, June 22nd at 9:00 am

The FIRST EVER Barefoot Mile {BFM} fundraiser in the mountain community will be held on Saturday, June 22 at Marshdale Park on North Turkey Creek Road starting at 9:00 am.  Become part of a movement of people of all ages  across our country who walk in solidarity with those who cannot stand up for themselves.  Every dollar raised will go to JOY International for lifesaving rescues and for training police teams in developing countries.  Every step we take results in freedom for children, teens and young women in response to God's call to bring help and hope to "the least of these". Not all of us can walk barefoot, and that's OK; its an option. Go to www.thebarefootmile.org  to register as a walker, on your own, as a family or part of a team. Create your own sponsor page to which friends and family respond with their support.  The BFM is a celebration of freedom and a family friendly event with live music, food, face painting, henna and balloon creations.  For questions about registration please speak with Bill Graf, Ted Miller or Jan Thurling. And remember our church has a designated fund for donations to JOY. Make your check out to UMCE with JOY International  on the memo line, and put your check in  the collection plate or take to the church office.  The church will send on the donations to JOY and will receive credit for giving.

MINISTRY JOTTINGS BY PASTOR DEB

Then Sings My Soul

Music is a wonderful and life-giving part of our worship. Music has been a part of worship in Old Testament times, New Testament times -- right up through today.

"Thank you" to our congregation for being of good cheer singing our hymns -- old favorites as well as those new ones. "Thank you" to those who are a part of our Chancel Choir -- for faithfully rehearsing and being a part of Sunday worship, as well as bringing us those beautiful cantatas and special music pieces. "Thank you" to Sandy, Keron, Joyce, Terry & Karen for being our outstanding "ministers of music" as they allow our souls to come alive in a way only their music makes happen.

Our hymns, anthems, gathering music, preludes, offertories, special music and postludes help us understand and connect with God. They're shafts of brilliant sunlight. They provide an almost mystical connection with the Divine. They enable us to pray and be fully present in worship. They teach us about our faith. They unite the Lord's earth-bound church with the heavenly realm.

Hymns and sacred music connect us with generations now gone, as well as open fresh expressions for the new generations of disciples of today. Sometimes when we're too weary for words, through singing or listening to music we are able to be filled with just the right expression we need. Through music we are able to find a deep place for hope, comfort, gratitude, peace, joy and encouragement.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song  and sing praises!               -- Psalm 98:4

Blessings,
Pastor Deb
