Update - May 15, 2019

Dear 8th Grade Parents,

I honestly can't thank you enough for your abundant patience and grace as you have awaited the final details for the end of the year. The patience has not only been appreciated, but it has provided the time and space needed to truly discern and seek after God's will and timing. And, I am excited that He has led and He has answered! We will never go wrong when we wait on the Lord and I can't wait to see the story He will continue to write - immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine!

See below for all finalized details regarding the end of the year. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Praying our amazing kiddos have an amazing end to the year!

Blessings,

In Him,

Heather Harrison
Middle School Principal

8th Grade Blessing
Monday, June 10th
9:30-11:30AM
at Mariners Christian School

One of the sacred traditions of graduation week is the 8th Grade Blessing which will be held on Monday, June 10th, 9:30-11:30 a.m.  at Mariners Christian School.

The 8th Grade Blessing is an opportunity for parents of graduates to speak words of affirmation over their child - acknowledging their character and excellence, encouraging them to follow God's plan during their upcoming high school years, and speaking God's promises into their future.  We ask that only parents be present and that siblings and other family members celebrate at another time. If you are unable to attend, perhaps a grandparent, aunt/uncle, or family friend who has been an important part of your child's life would be willing to step in. If both you and your representative cannot attend, your child's homeroom teacher would be honored to read your written blessing to your child on your behalf. Simply write your words down and email them to Mrs. Walker at [email protected]

The homeroom classes meet in separate rooms (location TBA) with parents and students sitting in two circles. This is your time to bless your child in the presence of their peers.  It is an opportunity to give them the gift of affirmation expressing a recognition and appreciation for who they are, separate from what they do. It is also an opportunity to communicate how proud you are of who they are becoming.  You may want to read a meaningful scripture verse or other selection, pray for them, express your desires for their high school years, simply tell them how much you love them, and/or wish them Godspeed as they move on to the next chapter in their life.  We do ask that you limit your time for sharing to 2-3 minutes.

This is a wonderful way to end the school year and to send our graduates into the future God has prepared for them. Please RSVP to Robin Walker at [email protected] or 714.437.1700, extension 157, by May 22nd that you (or someone else) will be attending and giving a blessing to your graduate. Thank you
