Thank you to everyone who participated in the Champion Provider Fellowship Onboarding Training April 25 - 26.  It was great to have so many members of the 2017 cohort in attendance to provide guidance to the incoming group of fellows and to be recognized for their accomplishments over the past two years.

Other highlights of the onboarding included a media training by Brown Miller Communications (BMC), a Speaking with Credibility and Confidence Workshop facilitated by Cara Hale Alter of SpeechSkills and an expertly moderated Engaging Policymakers panel by Mike Miller of BMC. Panelists included Supervisor Wilma Chan, Alameda County District 3, Dr. John Maa, Former President, San Francisco Marin Medical Society, Dr. Xavier Morales, Executive Director, The Praxis Project, and Senator Scott Wiener, CA-District 11. Training materials will be posted on our website soon at championprovider.ucsf.edu .

Join us for a special day-long interactive media training workshop for Champion Provider Fellows. You’ll learn the differences between various types of media outlets and what you need to know to successfully work with each, the qualities that make a story newsworthy, how to craft and deliver a compelling story and pitfalls to avoid when working with the press. The training presented by Brown·Miller Communications includes interactive activities, mock interviews and constructive critiques. Registration is limited and will be processed on a first come, first served basis.

Senate Bill 285: Public Social Services (Scott Wiener )
This bipartisan bill, now up for discussion in the Senate Appropriations, would ensure that all low-income Californians have equitable access to CalFresh- by setting statewide goals for enrollment and participation.
Assembly Bill 842:   Hunger-Free Preschool & Child Care (Limón)
AB 842, which is now with the Assembly Appropriations Committee, would extend provisions already granted to institutions with K – 12 th grade students around participation in California state meal programs to preschool and child care settings.
Assembly Bill 1508: Breakfast After the Bell (Bonta)
Now with the Assembly Appropriations Committee, this bill would identify state investments to expand access to  Breakfast After the Bell,  to reach more children in California's high-poverty schools.

From CDPH NEOPB, this tool provides a variety of publicly available data relevant to the goals and objectives of SNAP-Ed. The profiles were compiled to assist Local Health Departments and other SNAP-Ed implementing agencies to plan future interventions and collaborative efforts.
