Our Students are back from Israel!
Our 7th and 8th graders and their chaperone returned safely yesterday from their Israeli adventure. We are all looking forward to hearing their stories, but for now, take a look at their trip pictures on Facebook...can you identify the many sites and cities they visited, foods they ate, and activities they participated in?

Students Attend EITC Rally at the Capitol
On May 7th, our 5th and 6th grade student delegation joined 13 other Pennsylvania Jewish day schools at Teach PA's Mission to Harrisburg. Not only did our students experience government at work and see the beautiful capitol...they made a difference. We had group meetings with elected officials and participated in a history-making Jewish community safety event in which we petitioned government to help protect our kids. We advocated for EITC, and that afternoon, a bill to fund more EITC scholarships passed in the House of Representatives, allowing it to keep moving in the legislature! We are proud of our students and of our partnership with Teach PA. See photos of the day

Yom Hazikaron - Israeli Remembrance Day
In honor of Yom Hazikaron, everyone at The Silver Academy gathered outside by the flag pole for a thoughtful ceremony. Middle School students led a special program with poems, songs and prayers. Students released balloons in remembrance of the soldiers of the Israeli army. Our speaker,
Einat Slonimsky (parent of Geffen), spoke about the Israeli Army.

Silver Academy Celebrates Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israel's Independence!
Many students say that our Israeli Independence Day celebration is one of their favorite days of the year! As a continuation of
Yom Hazikaron,
we gather again at the flagpole the following day to raise the flag in honor of Yom Ha'Atzmaut. The 1st and 2nd grades led the ceremony. They were excited to perform their songs, marches and dances with Israel flags, and sing a prayer for peace. The 3rd and 4th grade students jumped in to continue the celebration with more songs and Israeli dance. As a finale, we all enjoyed dancing together.

Kabbalat Shabbat and Rosh Chodesh
During this month's Rosh Chodesh project, the entire school gathered for a presentation about the main cities of Israel. They then separated into multi-age groups and created an art collage about each city. You can view their creations on the bulletin board near the cafeteria.

A BIG thank you to
- Einat Slonimsky for speaking at our Yom Hazikaron Ceremony
- Our PTO for showing our staff that you care during Teacher Appreciation Week
- To the Federation for inviting our students to perform at the community Yom Ha'Atzmaut Celebration, and to Marina Cherepinsky for preparing the students so well
