Hennepin Avenue—the heart of the city's entertainment district—attracts more than 50,000 trips per day, including 8,100 buses, 7,600 pedestrians, and 730 bicycles.
The street is undergoing a storefront-o-storefront rebuild in downtown. The plan is to build a roadway that is safer and more inviting for pedestrians, bicyclists, buses and cars.

The blocks between Washington Avenue and 12th Street are being reconstructed to accommodate all transportation modes:
  • Sidewalk area able to support pedestrian activities
  • One-way bikeways behind the curb
  • Space for enhanced transit stops compatible with future Bus Rapid Transit service
  • Four vehicle lanes, with Hennepin Avenue remaining a two-way street

Utility work will continue through the rest of 2019. Heavy construction will run from 2020 - 2022. At least one traffic lane in each direction will remain open for the duration of construction. Metro Transit has rerouted Hennepin Avenue bus traffic to Nicollet Mall.
Learn the basics, or get a refresher, on commuting downtown. This first in a series of workshops covers all the different options available to downtown employees including transit, biking, carpooling and vanpooling. We’ll provide an overview of services that Move Minneapolis offers downtown employers and connect you with transportation resources, materials and information so you can feel confident addressing commuting concerns. There’s also a chance to network with fellow downtown Minneapolis HR professionals.

All participants who sign up for and attend the entire series will
