Vacation Bible School at Grace July 17-18-19
Searching for treasure on God's good earth
by Sue Kelly, Children & Youth Education Council

Where can you find God this summer?  Our children and youth will be asked this question on our last day of church school, June 10.  Look for their responses in the centerpieces on the tables in the parish hall during our ice cream social coffee hour.

One place they will be able to find God this summer will be at Vacation Bible School, July 17-19.  This year it will take place at the beautiful Schubert Farm on Fouch Rd.  The Schuberts have graciously invited our Grace kids grades K-5 to find God as we Search for Treasures on God's Good Earth.

This week's topic - What it means to be a Welcoming Church

Are you being called to serve on Altar Guild?
How do you think of holiday meals such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter? Most of us anticipate a gathering of family and friends at a table set with special care. Maybe china, silver and crystal from multiple generations of someone's family? A time to enjoy a celebration that you might have been looking forward to for weeks or months even!

Isn't this what we do each time we celebrate the Eucharist in church? The church is prepared with care to remind us of the special time we spend together and that it is meant to be a place "apart from the world" that we toil in daily. The silver, vestments, crosses, candles and more remind us that we gather to share a nourishing meal for our minds, hearts and souls.

The Altar Guild is a volunteer group of the parish whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. Altar Guild members prepare the sanctuary for services, and clean up afterwards. Three services on the weekend and one mid-week service is the main work of this group. The time spent in these tasks is not very long, but it is a weekly responsibility 52 week-ends a year and those special occasions that do not fall on a weekend. As the expression states, "many hands make light work".   The hands of the Altar Guild are aging, so we are looking to recruit more hands for this important work of the parish family. Men, women and young people serve in Altar Guilds. Why not make this a ministry that your family could do together?

Prayerfully consider the Altar Guild as a simple yet vitally important ministry for our church family. If you would like to learn more about the commitment to serve, please speak with Kathryn, our rector, or email her at [email protected].

Pastoral Care at Grace
In order to address pastoral care needs of the whole parish, not only those who are ill, homebound, or otherwise unable to be physically present for church services, we are currently in the process of re-visioning how we can more effectively tend to those needs. In order to move forward with our plans, we would like to identify which service each of us usually attends. Please take the time to fill out a blank white card (located on the table in the Commons, next to the basket) with your current contact information, the names of those in your household, and which service you attend, and place the card in the basket. Thank you!

Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!

Oleson's Community Share Program

Here's how it works:
  1. You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
  2. Turn in your receipts to the church.  Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
  3. We submit receipts back to Oleson's
  4. We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)

For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry.  Every little bit helps!

Thank you for participating!
