For Promotion Sunday all children and youth will gather in Wilson Hall at 10 a.m.
The youth will welcome the new 7

grade students in a reception afterward in the youth wing AND for the afternoon Promotion Plunge activities at 3:00 p.m.

This summer we will explore the poetry and prose of three contemporary writers whose words have shaped Christianity in the United States for over forty years. We will read excerpts from these books:
Thirst,
by Mary Oliver – Pulitzer-Prize-winning poet and essayist who died in early 2019.
This Day: Collected and New Sabbath Poems
, by Wendell Berry – poet, novelist, essayist, farmer, and environmentalist, winner of the National Humanities Medal.
Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now,
by Walter Brueggemann – renowned Old Testament scholar, Professor Emeritus at Columbia Theological Seminary, author of dozens of books.
