Congratulations to the graduating class of 2018! You have reached a significant milestone. As you prepare for life post-law school, PCD is here to support you in your graduate job search.

Throughout the summer, PCD receives job postings for recent graduates -- yes, even while you are studying for the bar. Here are five key steps you can take right now that can go a long way:

1.  Update your resume and upload a revised version to Symplicity.
  • Be sure to highlight your legal experience and add your bar admission information after you receive your results.
  • Review PCD's Resume Writing Guide in the Symplicity Document Library under the Resources tab for a Graduate Resume Sample (select the 'Graduate job search' tag in the drop down menu).
2.  Revise your form cover letter.
  • Review PCD's Cover Letter Writing Guide in the Symplicity Document Library.
3.  Proofread and edit your writing sample(s).
  • Review PCD's Writing Sample & Cover Sheet Guide in the Symplicity Document Library under the Resources tab (select the 'Graduate job search' tag in the drop down menu).
4.  Meet with a PCD counselor before your bar review classes start.
  • Schedule an appointment in Symplicity to review your resume and form cover letter.
5.  Update your Symplicity Personal and Academic profiles. Find these in the My Account menu.
  • Update your Personal information, including your preferred email address (PCD needs your personal email address!), so that we can reach you about key job opportunities.
  • Update Academic Information so we know your desired  practice areas, employer types, and locations.
For additional tips, resources, and information about upcoming programs specific to your needs as soon-to-be graduates, visit your Class of 2018 page or stop by the PCD office.

Also, be sure to complete the Class of 2017 Employment Survey!  You will need to complete the survey before you pick up your graduation tickets and materials in the Office of Academic Services.
