Dear Holy Name Families,  

A big thank you to the 2nd and 3rd grade families for such a wonderful Teacher Appreciation lunch today- parents have been so generous to us, and we are so appreciative. Thank you!  
 
This Thursday our new principal, Mr. Miller, will be coming to Holy Name for the day! We will introduce him at morning assembly, and he will participate in different activities and meetings throughout the day.   
 
Next Tuesday, May 21st, we will have our Final Parent Guild meeting at 6:30PM. Please join us for our annual state of the school report. I would also love to take time to say good bye and thank you to all of you while introducing our new principal, Mr. Miller. The evening will end with a Meet and Greet with Mr. Miller!

EIGHTH GRADE SALE FOR CHARITY!
Dear parents and parishioners,
On May 16th our 8th Grade students will hold a market sale in aid of various charities around the Bay Area. The students will sell a variety of products (from food to clothing and everything in between). You are cordially invited to their sale from 11am in the school gym. Your support would greatly be appreciated. (Your child brought home a 2 page list of items for sale.)

SPEECH TEAM
Last Saturday the Holy Name Speech team competed in the annual St. Ignatius Speech Tournament. Mrs. Nolan, the Speech coach, took eight 7th and 8th graders to the tournament: Nathaniel Gee, Samuel Hirschler, Johnathan Huang, Zameer Maqsood, Jaylyn Remolona, Raven Shaw, Lydia Valle-Jhanda and Ridge Walker. This year's team did a fantastic job with 6 members making it to the final round. Raven Shaw won 1st place in the persuasive category, Jaylyn Remolona 1st place in impromptu, Zameer Maqsood 2nd place in impromptu, Nathaniel Gee and Johnathan Huang 5th and 6th place in expository and Lydia Valle-Jhanda 4th place in impromptu. Their success earned the team the 2nd place Sweepstakes Award for overall excellence. Congratulations to these students who have worked all year to reach their achievements!
 

 
  
FREE DRESS FOR YOUR CHILD
If you attended and signed in at our last Parent Guild meeting on Tuesday, April 30, your child may have Free Dress tomorrow, May 15. 

PIZZA MONDAY
Monday, May 20 is a 12:30 dismissal. Pizza will be sold for $5.00.

STREP IN SCHOOL
 Please know that there are still students being diagnosed with strep throat. If your child is ill please keep him or her at home and check with the doctor if symptoms include a sore throat, low grade fever, cough, etc.

GIFT CARDS - SCRIP NEWS
There are a couple weeks left to complete your $2000 scrip obligation for the school year. The last gift card order will be placed on May 28. You will be assessed 10% of your remaining balance after that date.

Whole Foods will be leaving the program on May 18. Gift cards will still be honored if you purchase gift cards prior to the 18th.
