NEWS 
Initiated in 2016 by the One Health Commission, the One Health Platform, and the One Health Initiative Team, International One Health Day is officially celebrated around the world every year on November 3. But your event can happen any time of the year so be sure to register it ( http://bit.ly/2IEA1bM ) to get on the One Health Day 2019 map ( http://bit.ly/2PZioc5 ) . The goal of One Health Day is to build the cultural will necessary for a sea change in how animal, human and planet health challenges are holistically assessed and addressed. https://bit.ly/2NArkBD

On December 5-7, 2017 the CDC, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) participated in a U.S.   One Health Zoonotic Disease Prioritization (OHZDP) workshop to address zoonotic disease challenges in the United States. Led by the German Federal Government, in 2017 the G20 heads of state and government decided to intensify global collaboration in the fight against AMR and has established the Global AMR R&D Hub. The work of the Hub is aligned to the priorities set by the WHO, FAO and OIE. By including environmental aspects and veterinary medicine the Hub implements a “One Health” approach whereby human and animal health, worldwide food safety and environmental factors are all considered as an interconnected whole. https://bit.ly/2H9ymvW

In the spirit of One Health collaborations, MOHASC brings together academic researchers, representatives from human and animal health professional associations / boards, human and animal medicine, pharmacy, nursing, infection prevention /control, agriculture groups and relevant state agencies to promote understanding and imp of human and animal One Health antibiotic stewardship and to develop “antibiotic footprint” resources and tools. h ttps://bit.ly/2Je83by

“A Call for Clinicians to Act on Planetary Health” was published in The Lancet to increase awareness of the health impacts of global environmental change and mobilize clinical communities to get engaged through joining the global Clinicians for Planetary Health initiative. This initiative will aid doctors, nurses, and other clinicians worldwide in understanding more about how global environmental change impacts their patients and promoting bottom-up environmental action through patient education, outreach, and activist efforts. Between March 2014 – June 2017 the ‘One Health’ approach was promoted and rolled out across the Caribbean region.

  • A Caribbean One Health policy was written and approved by the Caribbean Community
  • A One Health strategic framework of the One Health policy was written and distributed
  • One Health leaders from 12 countries were trained in all areas of One Health.
  • A train-the-trainer philosophy prepared field veterinarians and ‘first responders’ to recognize and respond to exotic, endemic and zoonotic diseases.
  • Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory capacity and capability was strengthened

One Health Clinic - Changing the Streets (CTS) - ‘Serving both ends of the leash’
Sacramento, California. Changing the Streets is partnering with Wind Youth Service s , One Community Health , & 4 R Friends to host a monthly One Health Clinic serving youth experiencing homelessness and their pets.

Belltown, Washington, USA. The University of Washington School of Medicine and School of Public Health and the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine are working with New Horizons Ministries and Neighborcare Health to provide health care and veterinary care to young adults experiencing homelessness and their pets. The new One Health Clinic welcomes two- and four-legged patients at the same time.
