How Long Will You Make Your Mother Cry?
Vayigash and Vayechi 44:18-47:27; 47:28-50:26
The name of the Torah portion is Vayechi, "and he lived." It connects to last week's portion, Vayigash, "and drew near." This week I decided to put one of our online Torah lessons in the place of the written teaching. The lesson is the first half of a teaching entitled
"Who are These?", which explains Jacob's question to Joseph when he blessed Ephraim and Menashe. In fact, the blessing upon the male children is taken from this week's Torah portion.
The Father is building Jerusalem quickly, even in our days, so when will we return to comfort Rachel, who is weeping for her missing children? If you knew your earthly mother was weeping until you returned to her, then how fast would you drive home? How many times would Yeshua have gathered us to Jerusalem, but we would not?
Next year in Jerusalem...no, this year in Jerusalem.
