Play round of golf & show how
'teed-off' you are about crime
The second annual CrimeStoppers Golf Tournament returns on August 6, 2018 and there still is time to become a sponsor, or to sign up your team.
The Phelps Security CrimeStoppers tournament will be held at TPC Southwind again this year, with the theme "Play where the pros play and help fight crime." Fees include breakfast and lunch.
The tournament will accept a maximum of 100 players (25 teams), includes sold mulligans, a player's gift bag, a raffle and - most important - the opportunity to help CrimeStoppers. To become a sponsor, call or text Gary Paulson, (901) 679-

CrimeStoppers adds digital tools
to its felony crime-solving kit
With the simple, clear suggestion "Submit A Tip" in the foreground, CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County launched in May a
new website with the aim of making it quick and easy to provide authorities with an anonymous tip online through a secure pipeline.
"It's been called a game-changer and it truly is that," said E. Winslow (Buddy) Chapman, the organization's executive director. "Everyone is familiar with 528-CASH, the phone tips line. Now a tip can be provided interactively via the web."
The previous website's purpose was to build awareness of Crime Stoppers and its programs. The new site still does that, but also allows for interaction with anyone who has information about a crime. The site also provides daily up-to-date information about fugitives sought by police and spotlights "Crime of the Week" felony crimes in which detectives need help. The site remains a fundraising tool, as well.
CrimeStoppers is an independent, nonprofit organization that does not receive direct tax dollars. Visitors can become sponsors or buy tickets to two annual fundraising events, or simply make a donation.

Make dad smile
while helping
solve cases
You can make a dad- and CrimeStoppers - smile this year by getting him a gift at Smile.Amazon.com.
CrimeStoppers officially is one of the recipients of donations made through the AmazonSmile Foundation. All one has to do is go shopping at smile.amazon.com and select CrimeStoppers as your charity. Each time something is purchased, Amazon will make a donation to CrimeStoppers. Set it up once and it will always be there.
The donations can add up to a meaningful gift each year.
Already got your father something this year? That's okay. The program works
By the numbers
Citizen tips led to the arrest of 33 individuals and the clearing of 26 cases before the CrimeStoppers Awards Committee for May.
The cases included eight business robberies and four aggravated assault cases, including one attempted murder. For the first five months of this year, tips have helped solve 113 cases and led to 130 arrests. Among the arrests in May were
19 fugitives from justice (53 for the year so far).
