VETERANS DAY
November 11, 2017

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice between Germany and the Allied nations came into effect. On November 11, 1919, Armistice Day was commemorated for the first time.

In 1954, the veterans service organizations urged Congress to change the word "Armistice" to "Veterans". Congress approved this change and on June 1, 1954, November 11 became a day to honor all American veterans, where ever and whenever they had served.

Unlike Memorial Day which honors American soldiers who died in service, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans-living or dead -- but especially gives thanks to living veterans who honorably served their country during war or peacetime. A period of silence lasting two minutes may be held at 11am.

There are approximately 23.2 million military veterans in the United States.

Ross shared, "The military is where I first learned what it truly means to serve others, to lead under extreme circumstances, and ultimately to put one's life on the line for the greater good. I have a deep respect for all veterans and hold dear to my heart those that have fallen or been lost in the cause of freedom, today and everyday. "

Thank you Ross for your service!
