Construction Update
Project Mercury
Project Mercury is our first phase of upgrades. Basically the exisiting building mechanical and electrical infrastructure is being fully allocated to the business. ALL non-IT tenants have vacated the facility. We are adding 2 new UPS to the 6th floor and 2 more backup generators to the Harney Street garage to support this phase of upgrades. The phase involved demolition and rebuilding the 5th and 6th floors.
Project Summit
Project Summit has started in parallel with Mercury with the demolition of two-thirds of the street level, demolition of the 7th floor and sub basements. 3 former bank vaults are being removed to make space for UPS's and more chase space. Summit will add 3 new UPS rooms (distributed redundant configuration) and 3 more 1.5MW backup generators on the Harney garage roof. The plan is to add concurrently (and non-disruptively) 3 more generators and UPS modules as the need arises.
Compliance Audit Updates
With a total overhaul of our data center infrastructure in progress, 1623 Farnam has been actively working through our compliance and certification credentials. In November of 2018, we secured the services of RSM, a world leader in financial and operational compliance. A comprehensive plan and audit schedule was created to determine the best approach to achieving timely completion of the audits deemed necessary by our customers.

We are pleased to announce that we have completed and passed the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Audit. If you need a copy of the Attestation of Compliance Report, please contact our office at info@1623farnam.com and we can send you a copy for your records.

We are simultaneously working through the next 2 audits. The Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is being completed by FDI Consulting through the direction of RSM. They are projected to have a completed plan reflecting our new structure and processes in June.

The SOC Audits will be completed in 2 phases: SOC 2 Readiness is a deep dive into the operational process, documentation and overall security policies. We expect to have this aspect completed in May. The SOC 2 Type 1 audit is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Operations
Building Fiber Documentation

With a good portion of the building in a stripped down state, Bill Hoscheid is leading an effort to trace all of the internal fiber in the building. 1623 Farnam has been a carrier meet-me-point for many more years than the data center operations has existed. So, you can probably appreciate the enormous, but important task Bill has in front of him. If you have any documentation of the fiber you have within the building, please call our office or email a copy to Bill Hoscheid. Any documentation on the 18 fiber vaults that surround the building would also be appreciated. Be assured that the utmost care is being given to not disturbing existing fiber during this documentation and the overall reconstruction of the building. Bill's efforts will go a long way to helping us assure that our customer's fiber is documented and well protected for years to come.
1623 Farnam is the most cloud connected data center in a 5 state region!

In addition to Google's direct connect from 1623 Farnam to their cloud data center in Council Bluffs, we have multiple carriers that offer direct access to a variety of big cloud providers.

Telia Carrier for example offers direct cloud connectivity to Google, AWS, Oracle, IBM and Microsoft through their high performing and secure network. Windstream, Centurylink, Verizon and Zayo also offer cloud connectivity within our facility. With security concerns and low latency being a critical aspect of the cloud application experience, it is nice to have options that will allow you to optimize connectivity for your specific locations and needs.
