Due to increased cases of Covid-19 throughout the school district, specifically at the middle school, the school district will be implementing the following steps to help control the spread of Covid-19 and also help ensure minimal amounts of exposures to middle and high school students when positive cases arise. Additional steps to be taken at all schools will also be implemented to help reduce the spread and exposure to this virus.
For Staff:
Staff members will wear a mask and/or shield at all times when around children and other staff members within the same space or classroom.
For Students:
In learning spaces, students will be required to wear a mask for one-on-one assistance or when close contact learning groups are utilized. Teachers and support staff will have the authority to designate these situations for their individual classes. Masking in other areas of the school is still highly recommended. Masking remains mandatory on the bus.
Monroe County Middle School
Beginning after Thanksgiving break, on November 30, 2020, the middle school will begin implementing an A/B schedule for face-to-face students. By cutting the number of students by half each day, the school will be able to social distance much more effectively and greatly reduce or alleviate exposures to positive cases. The school will contact parents and students to communicate individual student schedules before Thanksgiving break.
MCMS Schedule below is for those students who are attending face-to-face right now.
Student "A" Day Schedule
Meet face-to-face on Monday/Tuesday; meet online on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday
Student "B" Day Schedule
Meet face-to-face on Thursday/Friday; meet online on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday
Classes will be online for all students on Wednesday. This will give the school an opportunity to clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, and learning spaces. It will also give our teachers ample time to plan and connect with online students.
Mary Persons High School
Beginning after Christmas break, on January 7, 2020, the high school will begin implementing an A/B schedule as well for face-to-face students. The school will contact parents and students before Christmas break with individual student schedules. By cutting the number of students by half each day, the school will be able to social distance much more effectively and greatly reduce or alleviate exposures to positive cases.
T.G. Scott Elementary, S.E. Hubbard Elementary, and K.B. Sutton Elementary
Student schedules will remain the same.
Monroe County Achievement Center
Student schedules will remain the same for the remainder of 1st semester. Beginning on January 7th, students will attend face-to-face on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday will be a virtual learning day for all MCAC students.
This instructional plan will be evaluated at the 3rd nine weeks and any updates or changes would be made at that time.
If you have questions or concerns regarding these updates, please contact your child's school. Thanks for your continued patience and understanding as we work to ensure a more consistent academic experience for our students. We will continue to review Covid data in our county and make necessary changes to this schedule as needed.
