Final Week: Elected Official Remuneration Survey
UBCM is surveying local governments on processes for developing remuneration policies for elected officials. Information from the survey will inform the development of a best practices guide to support local government decision making with regard to remuneration policies. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday May 22.

Local Government Awareness Week
UBCM, in partnership with CivicInfo BC and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, is pleased to support the 2019 Local Government Awareness Week, May 19-25. This annual initiative is aimed at building public awareness of local government roles and responsibilities and encouraging participation in local government processes. Read more

Volunteer Fire Department Funding
The Province of British Columbia is providing $5 million in funding to support volunteer and composite fire departments with grants for equipment and training. Local governments and all First Nations in BC will be eligible to apply for up to $25,000 towards the purchase of fire department and interface firefighting equipment (i.e. hoses, bladders, personal protection equipment) and firefighting and mental wellbeing training. Gas Tax Annual Expenditure Report Deadline
The deadline for submitting the 2018 Federal Gas Tax Annual Expenditure Report is June 1, 2019. The report captures financial expenditures and project details for all Federal Gas Tax funded projects between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Reports can be submitted through UBCM's
Program Information Management System (PIMS). Please contact

Economic Development Survey Findings
Results from the 2018 B.C. Local Economic Development survey are now available. The Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology has developed a "Top Findings" summary. The full set of results are also available on request.
