MEMBERS: Please watch your email for a short survey from the SAR Membership Committee. It'll take just a few minutes of your time. We'd like to know how we can best continue to serve you during the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions which, it seems, will be with us for some time to come. Thank you!

WR: Phase 2 Protocols Updated

Up to Five Persons now Permitted

There has been a change to the protocols for Phase 2 counties.

In-person activities including showings, inspections, appraisals, and final walk-throughs may now include up to five (5) persons (including the broker). The prior Phase 2 restrictions limited the number of persons on site to three (3) persons (including the broker).

Open houses are still not permitted in Phase 2 counties.

The other protocols for in-person activities must continue to be followed in all counties, including:

  • In-person activities must be by appointment only;
  • Face coverings are required to be worn at all times by real estate brokers, their clients, and industry partners (e.g. appraisers, inspectors, photographers, stagers, etc.). Brokers may not provide services to any client who does not wear a face covering.
  • The persons on site must strictly follow social distancing guidelines by remaining at least six feet apart at all times; and
  • The protocols for Phase 1 and 1.5 counties and Phase 3 counties have not changed. Please note that no more than two (2) persons, including the broker, are permitted on site in Phase 1 and 1.5 counties.

Phase 1 and 1.5 counties include: Benton, Franklin, Yakima, Chelan, and Douglas.

Phase 2 counties include: Adams, Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, Grant, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Klickitat, Okanogan, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, Spokane, Walla Walla, and Whatcom.

Phase 3 counties include:
Asotin, Columbia, Ferry, Garfield, Grays Harbor, Island, Kittitas, Lewis, Lincoln, Mason, Pacific, Pend Oreille, Skamania, Stevens, Thurston, Wahkiakum, and Whitman.

The Safe Start Washington plan was issued by the governor on May 31st.

ENDS TODAY!
LAST CHANCE!

In this virtual year, the SAR Food Drive went on virtually.
Today - September 18th - is your last chance to participate as we close the book on our virtual event.
Thanks to event chair Judy Flemmer who took this on and ran with it despite the challenges of a global pandemic and the worst air quality since records began - thank you, Judy!

Thanks, also, to one and all who participated - either individually or by office - in this year's food drive!

Every effort we make in every year of this event makes a difference at someone's table in our community.

If you have any questions, contact the Chair Judy Flemmer 216-1135 or Tami at the SAR 326-9222.

WR New Member Benefit: Safe Showings

Washington REALTORS® has negotiated a discounted fee for the SafeShowings™ app!

Now - during September, REALTOR® Safety Month - WR members can take advantage of a free 30 day trial.

After 30 days, the app is only $3.75/mo or $37.50/year.

SafeShowings™ is the first real estate safety solution of its kind in a simple-to-use mobile app. It captures a facial image, in real time, of someone entering the property with you. If you are unable to end a showing, it sends the image of the potential perpetrator as well as your geolocation to your emergency contacts.

This strategy is a proactive safety deterrent.

The app's goal is to create the tools that could save lives, while keeping people and properties safe. Real estate professionals and their loved ones feel more secure knowing that SafeShowings will automatically notify emergency contacts with identifying details and geolocation in an emergency.

Dave discusses various predatory behaviors, and steps agents can take to reduce the likelihood of getting into an unsafe situation while on the job.

The webinar lasts about an hour.

View it through NAR's Learning Library online here.

Once you register, you can view and download the archived webinar and slides.

WR Legal Hotline: Timely Earnest Money Deposit

NEW!

Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer Annie Fitzsimmons is on a mission to answer all the questions on the Designated Broker Wish List.

We asked DBs around the state to submit questions or topics of discussion to her via email so she could address them and share them as a Friday Video.

These are questions that many DB's already know but wish that all brokers knew.

TODAY'S QUESTION: "Why should listing broker, especially, be aware of whether the buyer's earnest money is timely deposited and immediately advise the seller if it is not?"

If you or your Designated Broker would like to have a question addressed, email legalhotline@warealtor.org.

SAR: New Parking Lot

SAR photos

Your SAR now boasts the newest parking lot in town!

This new parking lot is the result of several years of work by members on the SAR's Building Presidential Advisory Group (PAG) in response to an expressed need by members for more parking at the association office.

First, we purchased the house to the east. Then, we graded the new lot to match our existing parking lot.

Finally, this week, Black Diamond Asphalt Paving paved the entire parking lot up to modern building codes with more access parking, new storm-water management, and better access with a second driveway.

Even if you don't have business to conduct inside, stop by any time to use the free WiFi (password available at front desk)

Come enjoy the new parking lot at your association!
