COVID Update--November 20
Trinity has been notified of a second positive case of COVID-19 among our students at the end of the week. Per our Health and Safety Plan, we are notifying families, faculty, and staff within the Trinity community, and the student is quarantining. We wish that student the very best for a quick recovery!

There is a very high probability that this case was contracted due to contact outside of our school. Per our Health and Safety Plan, we are working to notify any/all "close contacts" (people within six feet for more than 15 minutes) so that those individuals may also quarantine. As always throughout this fall, we are consulting with officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, staff in the Education Office at the Diocese of Harrisburg, and two epidemiologists from Penn State Hershey Medical Center. At this time, athletics and other extracurricular activities are not affected by this positive case.

Trinity High School will remain open and will continue to follow our Health and Safety Plan, as well as all guidance from the PA Department of Health.

We ask our families to continue monitoring their children for any symptoms of COVID-19 and to continue working with Trinity to ensure the health and safety of students and staff throughout this time. Please see this link below from the CDC for symptoms, causes, prevention guidelines, and more.

If you suspect your child or any family member is experiencing any symptoms of this illness, you should seek medical attention from your healthcare provider or an urgent care or emergency room facility immediately.

Science Fair Goes Virtual
The Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair (CASEF) will be held virtually this year, and all students in grades 9 to 12 are welcome to participate. The virtual format means that there are a few differences this year. Microbiology projects are not accepted in the fair unless previously approved and done in a regulated research laboratory. Project display boards are still required but will remain at home. The biggest difference is that students are asked to prepare a five-minute video presentation of their project and display that is uploaded to YouTube or Google Drive for judges to view. The video and any supporting materials are what will be judged this year. Zoom interviews with judges will be limited to grand champion finalists only.

There will still be both category awards and special awards. Judges will simply make their selections remotely. Project deadlines are similar to previous years, with research plans and all approvals completed through STEM Wizard by January 11, 2021. The uploaded video and supporting documentation are due by March 2, 2021.  For more information, visit the CASEF website or contact Mrs. Piscioneri.

Donation of Chromebook Solar Charging System
A huge thank you to Belmont Solar, who graciously donated a solar energy charging system for our students' Chromebooks! Belmont Solar, a family-operated solar installer in Gordonville, Pennsylvania, promotes and provides clean, renewable energy and has installed hundreds of solar arrays. Members of two Trinity families, Dr. Dwight Ashby and Mr. Steve Gotwols, are among Belmont's most recent customers, and their support of the company prompted Belmont Solar to donate this important system, which will be housed in Mrs. Lindholm's room.

Shamrocks Who Shine
The Trinity Marching Band was blessed this year with the the opportunity for a successful marching band season. With normal competitions out of the question, Tournament of Bands offered a virtual season. Bands could submit videos for evaluation, but no scores were given. The Marching Band submitted videos, and the staff met via Zoom with panels of judges who critiqued the shows. At the end of the season, all judges felt the Band had made great improvement, and they were very impressed at how the Band had a complete show. Congratulations to the members for working hard to improve in this virtual venue! Watch the show below!
Congratulations to Ben Bonsall '23 (Immaculata House), who earned first honors last quarter and was mistakenly omitted from the honor roll list.
Trinity would like to congratulate Luke Wyland '21 (Seton House), who has been chosen as this year's Trinity representative for the Daughters of American Revolution competition. Luke was chosen by the faculty and the senior class as the student who best represents the qualities of dependability, service, and leadership. Congratulations, Luke!
Isaac Pham '22 (De La Salle House) was named a "Student of the Quarter" for the first Marking Period at Cumberland Perry Vo-Tech for the course "American Studies."
A huge thank you to the Trinity family for supporting the Respect Life Club's Diaper Drive! Your generous donations will help hundreds of families in the Harrisburg area this holiday season. This morning, Respect Life Club members, Elli Gasaway '23 (De La Salle House), Lydia Kramer '23 (Loyola House), Danielle Uroda '23 (Seton House), and Joy Yang '24 joined with future Shamrocks and current Holy Name of Jesus School students Gianna Bolster '25 and Camille Wierzbicki '25 to deliver the donations and volunteer at Healthy Steps Diaper Bank!
Spiritual Reflections
from Deacon Scott Root
Gospel for Sunday, November 22, 2020--The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Jesus said to his disciples: "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’ Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’ Then they will answer and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’ He will answer them, 'Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones,
you did not do for me.’ And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."--Matthew 25:31-46

Reflection
In the gospel passage from Matthew, Christ identifies himself with those in need. So often, we see Christ as the majestic Lord who has power and strength and is Savior of the world. But do we see the face of Christ in those who are in need--the poor and the weak, the marginalized and the neglected, the abused and the suffering? The Gospel of Matthew reminds us that, if we believe that we are the face of Christ to the world in our service, those whom we serve are the face of Christ to the world in their struggles and difficulties.
Saint of the Week--Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro, November 23
Faced with persecution and possible death, Blessed Miguel Pro returned to his native Mexico after his ordination to minister to the people of God. Within a couple of years, he was arrested on trumped-up charges and executed.

Prayer for the Week
Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon us and receive our heartfelt gratitude in this time of giving thanks.

Thank you for all the graces and blessings you have bestowed upon us, spiritual and temporal: our faith and religious heritage, our food and shelter, our health, the loves we have for one another, our family and friends.

Dear Father, in your infinite generosity, please grant us continued graces and blessing throughout the coming year. This we ask in the Name of Jesus, your Son and our Brother. Amen.
