More About Thomaston Main Street Events
The Thomaston Main Street / Downtown Development Authority Board has finalized the list of events for 2020. We are looking forward to offering these events to our community this year and we hope that you will all come out and enjoy them. The list is a little different this year and we are looking at implementing more promotional opportunities for out downtown businesses as well as more opportunities for community engagement in our downtown area.

As you can see we are still offering our larger events like the Freedom Fest and the Christmas Parade . These events are becoming Thomaston Tradition and we will continue to make them special every year.
As a promotional/ community engagement event, we would like to offer
"First Fridays" downtown. This will be an after hours event, where the community can come downtown on the first Friday of each month starting in May and going through August, to enjoy music, food, shopping and a movie. The stores will stay open a little later, we will offer food trucks in case the restaurants are full and some type of entertainment.

Last year we hosted our first Downtown Art Walk and it was a success. We have had many people requesting that we continue to offer that opportunity to the community. So if you are a local artist or know someone who is, have them sign up to be apart of this years Art walk. There will be more information coming soon and we hope to make this years even better than the last.

GA Cities Week is April 19th-25th and we have a lot of great things planned for our community, our local schools, city employees and city customers. A flyer with more info on these events will be going out shortly and you can also check the city website for more into on how you can get involved.

We have also had a lot of request to bring back the Taste of Thomaston and have decided to get to work to bring you the 1st Annual Taste of Thomaston Fall Festival in 2020. We hope that you are looking forward to all the fun and exciting things coming up this year. Keep an eye on the website and the Main Street Facebook page for more info and updates coming soon. Thank you.

Downtown Business Of The Month
On March 1, 2012, Deanne Avery and Lane Coggins opened the doors to "Rescue Me Market" on the square in downtown Thomaston, GA.
Today, the original wall-to-wall, one-hundred-year-old heart pine hardwood floors and the heart pine bead board ceiling have been exposed and preserved. The newly refinished space feels fresh and clean while hinting to an earlier time in Thomaston when so many frequented the hardware store.
With the renovation now complete, Deanne and Lane are still in the business of selling antiques, vintage relics and home goods. They have recently added a Southern gourmet foods section and have launched an online store. Job well done ladies! Thomaston is blessed to have "Rescue Me Market" on our Square. Come downtown and SHOP LOCAL, support your community and see what "Rescue Me Market" has to offer.

Volunteers Are Awesome
Interested in being a volunteer for Main Street events? We love our volunteers! It takes a lot to plan and execute an event and we cannot do it without our volunteers. If you would like to get involved in your community, becoming a Main Street Volunteer is a great start!!!

FRIENDS OF MAIN STREET SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

Thomaston Main Street operates alongside the City of Thomaston and the Downtown Development Authority to revitalized downtown Thomaston. With support from sponsors for the Main Street Program, it allows the donations to have a direct impact on the community.  Main Street Sponsorship's bolster our program and provides opportunities to enhance our downtown, that would otherwise be out of reach. Sponsor contributions allow our program to host successful special events, and provide professional assistance to small business owners, create strategic plans for the development of our downtown district, and protect our heritage and cultural identity as a community and to further develop the downtown business portfolio. If you are interested in being apart of the Friends of Main Street Program call Heather ( Main Street Coordinator) at 706-647-4242.
