Looking Back at The Hot Hatch Chili Race
We had a great and successful event at the Hot Hatch Chili race on August 25th! This was our TENTH year hosting this race and our turn out was fantastic. For all of you who were able to participate, THANK YOU!!! We couldn't have done it without you.

Abilities Expo; Houston, TX  


This year we had the pleasure of attending the Abilities Expo in Houston, TX. The expo was held in the NRG Center in the Medical District of Houston. Exhibitors come to share about the services and products they offer that can benefit the disabled community. There were several vendors selling catheters, travel toilet/shower seats, medical beds, wheelchair accessible vans and other vehicles, and event service dogs! Nurse Linda, Christopher Reeves nurse, also came and held an educational session on spinal cord injuries. This is an annual event, so feel free to check out their website if you have an interest in attending next year. Check out  abilities.com. 
Mike King, from Powered to Move 
Cycle Source just recently did an article highlighting a good friend  of ours: M ike King! Mike is  one of the co-founders of Powered to Move, a local non-profit that "promotes physical fitness among persons with disabilities to increase their physical,
emotional and spiritual well being. They strive to make these opportunities both physically and financially accessible". Mike became injured in a motorcycle accident many years ago, but did not succumb to defeat. He instead chose to focus on what he could do, not what he couldn't. Mike is an inspirational, fun, and encouraging man to be around. We appreciate everything he does for the disabled community! Meet Kathleen....
Meet Kathleen! We were so honored to be able to give her an adaptive vehicle. We received the wheelchair van as a donation and modified it so Kathleen could drive it with hand-controls. It has a 6-way power seat and a wheelchair ramp for her power chair.

Giving the gift of mobility is one of our favorite things! We were so honored to help Rebecca Elizabeth and her parents, Juan and Guadalupe, with some assistance with their downpayment on an adaptive vehicle. Rebecca was so excited with her new freedom!

Your $25 donation will help provide clean catheters to a paralyzed child for one month when their insurance won't cover the expense.

Your $100 donation will help build a wheelchair ramp so we can get our clients out of rehab and through their front door at home.

Your $200 donation will help widen the doorways in their homes so their wheelchair can fit through the bathroom door. Insurance doesn't covers home modifications.

Your $500 donation will help provide life-changing medical equipment: wheelchairs and specialized shower chairs, etc. Most insurance only covers a small part of wheelchairs, if any, and no "bathing aids" are covered.
