Forensics Team wins at weekend events
WKU’s Forensics Team traveled to McKendree University and Murray State University to take part in four tournaments the weekend of Feb. 8-9.

In Lebanon, Illinois, the squad of 10 won the team sweepstakes on Saturday and placed second on Sunday.

In Murray, WKU won the Small Entry team sweepstakes championship at both tournaments.

Next weekend the team will travel to Illinois State University to co-host and compete.

Following that, the team will travel to the 47th Annual Kentucky Forensic Association State Tournament in Pikeville to defend the state title.

Students to present research at anthropology conference
The Seventh Annual Dr. Lindsey Powell Memorial Conference will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center, room 239. Five anthropology students will present papers based on their original research projects and field experiences. Dr. Powell was an anthropology professor at WKU from 2009 until his death in 2014. After his death, students asked that the annual anthropology student conference be renamed in his honor.
Spotlight: Grapes of Wrath
The American Shakespeare Center will be coming to Van Meter Hall on Monday to perform the Tony Award-winning theatre adaptation of Grapes of Wrath , Steinbeck’s classic tale of resilience in the face of adversity. The Cultural Enhancement Series event will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Forum today for Enrollment and Student Experience VP finalist
Four finalists for WKU’s next Vice President for Enrollment and Student Experience will be participating in on-campus interviews. The second is Matthew Aschenbrener, Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Retention at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. An open forum will begin at 1:45 p.m. today at the Downing Student Union Auditorium. 
IdeaFestival Traffic Advisory
There will be increased traffic and bus congestion on College Heights Boulevard near College High Hall from 8 to 9 this morning as buses drop off children for the IdeaFestival Bowling Green speaker sessions at Van Meter Hall. Buses will pick up passengers on Avenue of Champions beginning at 11:30 a.m. until approximately 2:30 p.m.
College Preview Days
WKU's academic colleges will host preview days for admitted students this month. Events begin Saturday with the College of Health and Human Services and Potter College of Arts & Letters then continue with the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences and the Gordon Ford College of Business on Feb. 22 and Ogden College of Science and Engineering on Feb. 29.
Staff Excellence Nominations
Each year, WKU recognizes staff members who demonstrate outstanding and meritorious service with Staff Excellence Awards. Nominations for Staff Excellence Awards are now open. Award categories are Administrative Support; Professional, Non-Faculty; and Skilled/Technical/Service/Maintenance. Award winners will be recognized at an event in April.
WKU Department of Art hosting open house Saturday
The Department of Art will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. High school students, community college students, and those interested in majors and minors in Art will have the opportunity to tour the department, studios and galleries as well as meet faculty and current students. Check-in at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center Gallery.
