This may not surprise some of you. 
I had an experience in my family some years ago that led me to this story. You know how people can go quiet and either quit or slow communications? Often times, those on the other end start making up explanations for why the communication has changed pace? These explanations usually involve fear and judgement. You know the ones. Similarly, you know how people can see the way others live their lives and make up explanations for behavior they may not understand? These explanations also usually involve fear and judgement. Yes, you know the ones. All of this guesswork leads to a tangle of emotions and a lot of division. The division starts the minute we stop inquiring, and start with the "them over there" guesswork. Think about how often this happens in our families, our work relationships, and well ... just look at politics today. Support our food pantry at local food drives
 Did you know that our Grace Food Pantry benefits from local food drives? The more we volunteer the more food we receive, including fresh produce and bottled juice, both favorites with pantry clients. Free food for the food pantry means giving out more and buying less, freeing up money for items like meat. We have the opportunity to participate in two food drives this spring, which will help us fill the pantry shelves. We need volunteers to help us with both food drives. Even if you are not a regular pantry volunteer, perhaps you could consider helping out in this way. Contact Nancy Johnson for more information:

From boots to shoes
Jubilee House seeks donations of footwear
The change in seasons brings different needs for those who are  struggling and visit Jubilee House for services. One of the services that Jubilee House offers is boots in the winter and tennis shoes in the summer. Now is the time to check your closet and donate any gently used or new SUMMER (tennis) shoes. Jubilee House has been serving over 50 people each day this winter, and all will need shoes for spring, summer and early fall. We so appreciate your donations! We are the hands and FEET of God!

Safe Harbor extends season with l
imited services beginning April 23
The unseasonably cold weather has left a thick layer of snow on the ground that makes sleeping outside as hazardous as freezing temperatures. That's why Safe Harbor has extended its season again and is committed to remaining open until the snow melts, but with reduced services. Operating under shortened hours Safe Harbor will provide a place to sleep, but no meals, showers, laundry or other services. Only six volunteers are needed to staff the scaled back operation per day, and if each church can summon three volunteers the shifts will be covered through the end of April. Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!
Oleson's Community Share Program
Here's how it works:
- You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
- Turn in your receipts to the church. Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
- We submit receipts back to Oleson's
- We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)
For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry. Every little bit helps!
