REAA NEWSLETTER
A newsletter to keep you informed about what's "up with arts."

Letter from the new BOD President:
Dear Friends,

I hope you're enjoying the sunshine! We were lucky the spring showers held off for ArtsFest Hudson on Saturday, May 4. REAA is a proud sponsor of this new community event, which brings thousands of people to Hudson, along with many new visitors to our website and new eyes on our programs. Our fingers are firmly crossed that the skies will clear again on Saturday May 18 for our first annual Paws for the Arts dog walk and fundraiser along the Assabet River Rail Trail.

After these two major community events in May, we have our eye on the summer! The 31st season of Summer Drama Workshop will close registration on June 3 - don't forget to register your children for a month of fun with their favorite characters, including Elsa, Anna, Ariel, and all of their friends. On June 9, we're hosting a Tony Awards viewing party at Hudson's coolest new co-working space, Out of Office. And on June 12, we'll be back in Wood Park, partnering with the Hudson Recreation Department for our Artist Appreciation Concert, which will include our annual Artist Appreciation Award - get your nominations in now to honor someone who has made an impact in the arts in our community!

I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events!

Best,

Anna Klashka
President, REAA Board of Directors

Artist Appreciation Concert: Save the Date and Nominate!

Our annual artist appreciation concert will be held on June 12 in Hudson's beautiful Wood Park. We're thrilled to be bringing Crocodile River Music to Hudson for this event, and we're looking forward to appearances from the River's Edge Chorale, REHarmonix, and select students from the River's Edge School of Music. Come and join us at the Wood Park Hatch Shell for this FREE event.

We're also still accepting nominations for our annual Artist Appreciation Award, given each year to an individual or organization that has made a substantial contribution to our mission of enriching lives and creating community through the arts. Nominees should have integrity in the community, be knowledgeable in his/her/their art field, have contributed to the artistic lives of many people and to our community through his/her/their artistic work with the people of the local area. We'll be making a decision on Wednesday, May 15, so don't wait to nominate!

River's Edge School of Music: Thank You!

We're approaching the end of the 2019-2020 year for the River's Edge School of Music, as students complete their lessons over the next couple of weeks. Our April recitals were a testament to how much progress our students have made. Thank you to our dedicated faculty, and thank you to our students and their parents for spending the year making music with us! We hope to see you all again in the fall.

Art in the Hall: In My Neighborhood

We took a break from our regularly scheduled Art in the Hall program to partner with the Hudson Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition to bring The Opioid Project to Hudson's Town Hall for the month of May. This powerful, interactive exhibit engages with a critical local issue and is on view through May 30. We're now gearing up for the return of our regular Art in the Hall program, with an exhibit themed "In My Neighborhood" to open on May 30. Registration is open now through May 28. Sign up now to show your work!

Tony Awards Viewing Party: June 9

Save the date for a star-studded evening celebrating the Great White Way! We'll be watching the Tony Awards at Hudson's newest co-working space, Out of Office, and we want you to join us! More details coming soon on our website
