Black Tee Challenge
Congratulations to all players who competed in our Dreamland Black Tee challenge. With the course measuring 7400 yards / 6838 Metres it was the ultimate test and showed the full ambition of our architect Cynthia Dye.  From the 47 strong field we must congratulate 9 players were successful in scoring under par to their handicap.  There was a tie on top of leader board with 2 players – Grant Gilmour and Martin Docherty – both scoring 4 under par 68 net. In order to determine the Winner of The Black Tee Challenge we had to look their back nine scores. After the count back Grant Gilmour is our 2018 Champion!! with 34 back nine net score vs. Martin’s 37 back nine net score. Paul Winkle was our leading member in the Gross division with a score of 82. Our General Manager Phil Jones joined members in the final group to enjoy the test, however with a score of 80 it is safe to say his European Tour card remains comfortably out of reach for another year!

The winner was Iain Paterson with one under par 37 points. George Ball took second place with level par 36 points. There was a tie for third place with William Blanchard and Bruce Ferguson both scoring 1 over par 35 points. It required us to look at their back nine scores. After coun tback Billy took third place with 20 back nine points vs. Bruce’s 18 points.
Last Saturday three players had 2s on their scorecard – Wade Droney and Alisdair Still birdied the 1th hole and Ilgar Ahmadov birdied the 17th hole to put 2 on their scorecards.

Knowing the Rules
Last week’s question:
A player makes a practice swing and accidently moves their ball on the fairway. There is no penalty.
False the player incurs a penalty of one stroke and the ball is moved must be replaced

This week’s question:
When taking a drop under the unplayable ball rule, if the ball, when dropped, rolls back into the original unplayable position the player can re-drop the ball.
Top Tip – Eyes on the back of the ball
Staying on last weeks theme of improving tee shots be sure to try the following when you’re next on the golf course or at the range.
When teeing the ball up, align the logo on the ball on the far right (for a right handed golfer) so you can only just see it. When making your swing keep your ’left’ eye clearly focused on this logo through until impact. This will ensure you don’t get ahead of the ball encouraging a more shallow angle of attack, higher launch and less spin = longer tee shots
Footgolf is now available on a Monday evening from 5pm till 8pm with floodlight play available on our academy Par 3 course. This is a great new initiative to grow awareness in Azerbaijan and to mix the worldwide passion for football into golf course concepts and scoring system. If you have not tried this then we would highly recommend you get along on a Monday evening to try it out. We will certainly look to grow this concept in 2018. The cost is 20azn per person for 18 holes and we will provide the footballs. For more information on Footgolf please contact    academy@dreamlandgolfclub.com
