CAMP OPENING FOR 2019 SEASON
10th of May 2019 and the new season is upon us! We open this year after some revamping both of management and the camp itself.

Our new team led by the sensational Solomon Tevera is a healthy mix of familiar faces and new, with a lot of experience between us and an abiding love for the bush and the Zambezi Valley. The rooms themselves have had a bit of a renovation with old wooden decking being replaced and sanded down and even our famous walkways have taken a leap skywards, giving the perfect aerial view of the bush below and allowing larger game to pass unhindered underneath.
Unfortunately, the 2018/19 wet season was not nearly as wet as we might have liked, meaning that the verdant grass toward the escarpment has already been browsed. Fortunately for us and our guests, however,  more animals of all species will be moving closer to the mighty Zambezi, for vegetation and for prey. The sightings we have seen already this year as we played truant from camp prep have been truly spectacular: leopard lounging not two minutes outside camp in the shade of one of our eponymous Ana Trees, elephants crossing the river, and of course the dagger boy buffaloes who graze the island and the grassland below camp.

At the start of the month we welcomed the season's first guests with some great encounters of lion, leopard, and hyena in addition to six porcupine, all under a newly installed canopy of stars - the heavens as it turns out, need a lot of light bulbs!
MEET THE TEAM:
Solomon (Solly) Tevera, our new General Manager of operations across both Anabezi and Amanzi will be a familiar face for previous guests. With over 20 years' experience in the industry and a keen sense of humor, there is no one more capable to oversee the smooth running of what promises to be an incredible season.

Manyando Ndlovu, Assistant Manager and Head of Maintenance is the man with a plan. Manyando has worked in the company for many years and was in charge of building both Anabezi and Amanzi. You would be hard pushed to find anyone with a better knowledge of camp happenings, let alone skill with a fishing rod - for who could forget the 18lb tiger of 2017?!

Milton and Caroline Mpuche form the dynamic duo that is Camp Manager and Hostess of Amanzi. Having lived and worked across the length and breadth of sub-Saharan Africa, the couple are driven by a love of nature and the wild, sharing their passion with guests in the cliff top camp on the banks of the Zambezi.

Left to Right: Caroline and Milton, Cephas, Ronex, Tara, Solomon, Manyando and Mpunga

Mpunga Nanyangwe is Head of Housekeeping and assistant Front of House, a Lusaka local and familiar with the Zambian safari industry. Naturally house-proud, she will ensure your rooms are immaculate, your laundry pressed, your beds such stuff that dreams are made on and your long safari day is rounded with a deep and peaceful sleep!

Ronex Malasha, our Executive and tallest Chef, is in charge of feeding both the Amanzi and Anabezi beasts. His creations in the kitchen are sublime and his wry smile will always make you want to join the joke. Ronex is a firm believer in a hearty breakfast before a game drive or day of fishing: it's very hard to say no to an offer of eggs and b. made in front of you on our rock tail grill!

Our wonderful and reliable barman, Cephas Sakala, has this year been promoted to Deck Supervisor; his eagle eyes can spot a draining glass from 100 yards, and his steady hand will refill it in a twinkling and a clinking of ice cubes.

And lastly, our Front of House Manager for 2019 is Tara Vivian-Neal. Joining us armed with a degree in English, a wealth of terrible jokes, boundless energy, and a constant smile, she will do her utmost to make you feel at home away from home in unique, personalized luxury, right in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park.

No matter their respective departments, our team's single top priority is to ensure the ultimate guest experience in the place we are all so privileged to call home. We much look forward to welcoming you to Anabezi and Amanzi luxury tented camps, and we are very excited for what the 2019 season may bring!
