MINISTRY COLUMN

FAMILY MINISTRY: HAPPY FAMILIES MONTH
"When our hopes of life seem to be slipping away, Jesus is ready to put His everlasting arms beneath us, and to draw us to His heart, and to comfort, encourage, and bless us." The Signs of the Times, March 17, 1890.

PRAYER MINISTRY
It is only by watching unto prayer, and the exercise of living faith, that the Christian can preserve his integrity in the midst of the temptations that Satan brings to bear upon him. But "whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." Talk to your heart constantly the language of faith: "Jesus said He would receive me, and I believe His word. I will praise Him; I will glorify His name." Satan will be close by your side to suggest that you do not feel any joy. Answer him: "'This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.' I have everything to be glad of; for I am a child of God. I am trusting in Jesus. The law of God is in my heart; none of my steps shall slide."
Printed in The Bible Echo, September 24, 1894.

MINISTRY PROJECTS & SPONSORSHIP

  • Security Fence and Gate - $10,000
  • Literature Evangelism & Library - $3,000
  • AV Equipment and Live Stream Expansion - $10,000
  • Evangelistic Crusade and Outreach - $20,000
  • Community Service - $5,000
TITHES & OFFERINGS
The Biblically based personal giving plan  outlined  on the Adventist Tithe envelope, is a  systematic and efficient method for distributing ourTithe and Offerings to all phases of God's work, at home and around the World.  The plan makes it possible for the Adventist Church to maintain a soul-winning work in 200 countries, preaching and teaching in more than 600 languages and dialects worldwide.

Tithe is 1/10 of one's increase (Mal. 3:7-10; Lev. 27:30, 32) returned to God as a sign of one's allegiance to, and partnership with God. Malachi impresses upon us the sending of the "whole tithe" to the storehouse, but he did not say that all of the offerings should also go there.

A common practice of freewill giving for the church budget is 2%-10% of one's increase. Our church leadership is committing to a practice of 5% to 10% in order to support our church projects and expenses that occur monthly.

God has left it with us to determine the "how much" and "where" and "what" of our freewill offerings. The difference between tithe and offering is that tithe is specified by God and expresses loyalty to God, and offerings are specified by the giver and expresses gratitude toward God. Both are acts of worship and are spiritual responses of the believer.

Freewill giving through offering is based on recognizing God's blessings that have come through the grace of Jesus (Deut. 16:17), and giving that goes out of a heart full of gratitude and joy because of the love of God in Christ (2 Cor. 8:12).

While our church has needs and big plans this year that require financial support, we are confident that God will lead and provide as He guides and directs our plans this year. May all of us be richly blessed as we place our trust in Him.
