PCC's Electric Bike bill passes Senate!
|
|
H.3174
, PCC's electric bike bill, succeeded in passing through the Senate & House, with amendments.
Yesterday was the final day of the session, and while H.3174 received 3rd and final readings in both chambers, we'll
have to wait until next January
for each chamber to concur on their respective amendments.
Thanks to the following for input and efforts on the bill:
Eric Webster
of E-bike Central (Columbia),
Senator Kevin Johnson
of Manning,
Bicycle Corporation of America
,
People for Bikes
, and
General Motors
. The bill has broad support.

SCDOT policy campaign UPDATE

The campaign for a state complete streets policy at SCDOT has entered a new phase with SCDOT
- one with focused discussions within SCDOT on bike/walk safety, specifically statewide priorities, and opportunities for improved coordination, design, process, and planning. We recently requested they conduct a
Systemic Pedestrian Safety Analysis
, now a national best practice, and we're happy to report they have begun. Stay tuned! The rubber hits the road now. Then see the initiative in detail in
this State paper
article here. More good news is this campaign now has
20 mayors supporting
