REGISTER FOR THE BAREFOOT MILE FUNDRAISER! TAKE ACTION AGAINST CHILD TRAFFICKING Saturday, June 22nd at 9:00 am
|
The FIRST EVER Barefoot Mile {BFM} fundraiser in the mountain community will be held on Saturday, June 22 at Marshdale Park on North Turkey Creek Road starting at 9:00 am.
Become part of a movement of people of all ages across our country who walk in solidarity with those who cannot stand up for themselves. Every dollar raised will go to JOY International for lifesaving rescues and for training police teams in developing countries. Every step we take results in freedom for children, teens and young women in response to God's call to bring help and hope to "the least of these". Not all of us can walk barefoot, and that's OK; its an option. Go to
www.thebarefootmile.org
to register as a walker, on your own, as a family or part of a team. Create your own sponsor page to which friends and family respond with their support. The BFM is a celebration of freedom and a family friendly event with live music, food, face painting, henna and balloon creations. For questions about registration please speak with Bill Graf, Ted Miller or Jan Thurling. And remember our church has a designated fund for donations to JOY. Make your check out to UMCE with JOY International on the memo line, and put your check in the collection plate or take to the church office. The church will send on the donations to JOY and will receive credit for giving.

UMM MOTHER'S DAY SERVICE Sunday, May 12th at 10:30 am
|
Last year's Mother's Day Service featured the inaugural performance of the locally renowned United Methodist Men's Chorus. Due to the incredible demand for a repeat performance, the group will take center stage again for Mother's Day this year. In addition, UMM will honor the ladies of UMCE by handling all aspects of the 10:30 worship service, including giving Pastor Deb the day off. Please join us - we promise to get you out on time (if not sooner) for your Mother's Day lunch.

MINISTRY JOTTINGS BY PASTOR DEB

Thoughts for Mother's Day
Everybody knows that a good mother gives her children a feeling of trust and stability. She is their earth. She is the one they can count on for the things that matter most of all. She is their food and their bed and the extra blanket when it grows cold in the night; she is their warmth and their health and their shelter; she is the one they want to be near when they cry. There is no substitute for her. - K. Hathaway
Children often don't appreciate their parents until the age of forty, when they suddenly become just like them, thus preserving the system. - Q. Crewe
One mother achieves more than a hundred teachers. - a Jewish proverb
If it was going to be easy to rear children, it never would have started with something called "labor." - Anonymous
Rejecting things because they are old-fashioned would rule out the sun and the moon - and a mother's love. - Anonymous
Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our natural lives - C.S. Lewis
