On Sept. 1, Mosaic Life Care Foundation welcomed 14 of our wonderful volunteers back to Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph.

We appreciate their time and dedication to help our team of caregivers provide the best and safest care.
NEW! After-School Programming

In response to favorable survey remarks, the Foundation will pilot after-school programming at emPowerU this fall.

The six-week program will be held Tuesdays, 4-5:30 p.m., Sept. 22 through Oct. 27.

Designed for students entering grades 3-8, participants will create and develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Program offerings include: Coding Drones, LEGO EV3 Robotics, LEGO Powered Machines, LEGO WeDo 2.0 Robotics, TYNKER Coding and Virtual Reality Explorers.

The Foundation will follow appropriate guidelines with participants and staff including temperature checks, use of face masks, social distancing and providing hand sanitizing stations.
FREE: emPowerU Programming

The Mosaic Life Care Foundation Board of Trustees approved a change in the emPowerU fee structure for the next five years.

emPowerU Civic Engagement Immersions and e2 Fellowship high school programs will be offered free of charge through the next five years for school districts in the Foundation's 31 county service region. This area includes northwest Missouri and adjacent counties in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.

Dr. Doug Van Zyl, Saint Joseph School District superintendent, said the commitment supports educational efforts in the region. 

“With the pressure being placed on the educational community today, it is great to have a partner that is willing to help alleviate some of that pressure,” Van Zyl said. “Not only with the financial assistance, but by also offering more learning experiences for our students.” 

The Foundation has dedicated $2 million through 2025 in support of youth-focused leadership development.
CollaborACTION Grant Open Now

Mosaic Life Care Foundation is now accepting proposals for 2020 CollaborACTION grant funding.

CollaborACTION grants support solutions that have the potential to impact education levels, character development and workforce skills. Innovative project proposals need to be a collaboration between two or more partnering organizations.

The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce and St. Joseph School District received the 2018 CollaborACTION grant for their Edge Factor project. Kristie Arthur, St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce director of workforce development, said the organization applied for the grant because the Chamber, School District and Foundation are aligned on their workforce development goals in the community.

“Without the CollaborACTION grant funding, we would not have been able to provide the Edge Factor workforce development platform,” Arthur said. “The Foundation is as passionate about making northwest Missouri a better place to work, play and live as I am.”

CollaborACTION grant awardees are eligible to receive up to $50,000 for their proposal. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 23.
