Learning Management System Upgrade - May 10-11, 2019
The Tulane Learning Management System is scheduled to be upgraded this weekend, May 10-11, 2019. During this time, users may not be able to access the system (including courses, transcripts, etc). 

The Tulane LMS technical support team will inform all when the upgrade has been completed. We thank you for your patience as we continue to improve our system.

R6-SCPHTC Needs Assessment Response A Huge Success
Thank you to all who completed the Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center's Needs Assessment. We are proud to announce over 1,000 responses were recorded. The R6-SCPHTC staff looks forward to reporting the results from the needs assessment very soon.

attends Arkansas Public Health Association and
Louisiana Public Health Association Annual Conferences
Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center staff attended the 71st Annual Arkansas Public Health Association (APHA) conference April 29-May 1, 2019 in Little Rock, Arkansas. This year’s conference theme was “Public Health: Creating Healthier Lives and Stronger Communities.” 

Organized in 1947, The Arkansas Public Health Association strives to be the leader in unifying and empowering public health professionals and communities
through education.
Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center staff attended the
May 2-3, 2019 in Alexandria, Louisiana. This year’s conference theme was “Outcomes and Accountability."

The Louisiana Public Health Association (LPHA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1948 and is an affiliate member of the American Public Health Association. The mission of LPHA is to promote health in the State of Louisiana.

Course Spotlight:

The Cultural Diversity, Health Disparities, and Public Health training provides public health professionals with a broad overview of cultural diversity issues with a focus on race/ethnicity and gender. Health disparities, a major public health problem of interest, are discussed using cultural diversity as the conceptual framework for thinking about the role of the public health community and health policy solutions for addressing these issues. As a part of this process, course participants are exposed to introductory cultural diversity concepts. In addition, participants also have an opportunity to engage in critical thinking regarding the current social and health problems that impact the public's health, particularly racial minorities.
