CTP4 testing for 3rd through 8th grades will take place at the beginning of the day next Tuesday through Friday. Please make sure to have students arrive to school well rested and on time. A healthy breakfast is also very helpful! Any student who arrives after a testing session has begun will need to wait in the front office until his or her class begins another portion of the test.
The Fairmont Parent Association will hold its annual community outreach to benefit the Anaheim Police K-9 Association by sponsoring Penny Wars. Penny Wars is underway and will conclude on Wednesday, April 25. The class that fills up its jar most quickly will win a treat from the FPA. Additionally, the class that brings in the most pennies and raises the most money will win a treat. Remember, only pennies count positively in your child's classroom jar. All other money denominations will count negatively. Just a hint: Put that money into a rival classroom's jar. Heehee! :)
Do you love reading? Be sure to check out our new summer classes offered at Fairmont Anaheim Hills for all of our insatiable readers. Mrs. Harmon (AHC) and Ms. Harmon (HAC) will lead both workshops.
Book Lovers Workshop Session 1 Grades 3 --- 5 July 16 --- 19 at Fairmont Anaheim Hills Monday --- Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm $200 (minimum 10 students) |
Book Lovers Workshop Session 2 Grades 3 --- 5 July 23 --- 26 at Fairmont Anaheim Hills Monday --- Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm $200 (minimum 10 students) |
At each workshop, students will share their love of books and reading with each other through both independent reading and literary-based games and activities. In addition to reading, they will hone their creative writing skills by composing book reviews and recommendations in a variety of fun and interesting ways, including crafting alternate endings to their favorite stories and writing postcards from characters' points of view.
Students will be part of a fun and safe online community in which they can explore new books and share their favorites with friends. Additionally, they will step outside of their books with fun activities that might include exploring a book-tasting menu, going on an Amazing Literacy Race, solving a crime scene mystery, or using their critical-thinking skills to free themselves from an Escape Room. Activities will differ in each session, so students who want to double their fun can enroll in both sessions.
At Fairmont Private Schools, we know that reading is definitely not monkey business
--- it's beneficial to all students and is also a tremendous amount of FUN!
Join us at Fairmont Anaheim Hills on Saturday, May 5, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for a wonderful family event filled with engaging story time, carnival games, snow cones, face painting, and an exciting opportunity for your child to take a photo with PBS KIDS character Curious George, as seen on PBS SoCal!
Because we believe that every child deserves to go
bananas over reading, we are asking each family to bring a
new book to the event to donate to the Children's Hospital of Orange County Family Resource Center. Space is limited, so
RSVP today! Can't make the event? You can still participate in our book drive to benefit CHOC patients. Simply bring your donation of a new book to any of our Fairmont campuses.

Fairmont Prep Robotics Students Safely Build upon Team Success
As the FIRST® Robotics Competition Championship is currently underway in Houston, it is a good time to revisit the 2017 --- 2018 robotics season. Your Fairmont Prep FRC team competed in the Los Angeles Regional and in the Ventura Regional in March. We ranked 29th in LA and 33rd in Ventura.
At the Ventura competition, we qualified for the quarterfinals but were defeated in the second round by only 10 points. This is significant because we lost to the Spartatronics team, who won that regional and moved on to the world competition. No other team in the elimination rounds came that close in scoring against them.
It was a great adventure, and what seemed, at first, to be an easy challenge turned out to be technically difficult. All teams experienced numerous breakdowns, and life in the pits was stressful at times. On a positive note, a big congratulations goes to our safety captains, freshmen Elisabeth Feng and Emmaly Nguyen, who brought back three awards:
- Safety Person of the Day (Los Angeles)
- Safety Pit Award (Ventura)
- Runner-up for the Safety Award in Ventura
Safety is a continuous and constant concern of FIRST, and these recognitions are highly regarded by all teams. The season will end with the team building components for future robots, including the vision system (autonomous vehicle) the students developed during winter break. Great job to all of the Fairmont Prep FRC Husketeers!
