Sacrament of Baptism
Sunday, May 19th Morgan Emily Ford, daughter of Amanda (Smedstad) and Brian Ford will receive the Sacrament of Baptism at the 10am Service. Please join us in welcoming Morgan into our Christian faith!

Celebration of Life
There will be a Celebration of the Life of Jeanette Arlene Deth Poor on Sunday, May 19th at 4pm. Jeanette was a parish member of St. James and is the mother of Edith Poor and grandmother of Ashley and Samantha James.

Garden Plant Sale Fundraiser

On Sunday, May 19th following the 10am service, Kimberly Potts will be selling assorted flowers in 4 inch pots to support the Pelican Intervention Fund.

The St. James' Vestry will meet on May 22nd (the fourth Wednesday) at 7:00pm in Fr. John's office. All are welcome to come and observe our Vestry in action.

A St. James Outreach Initiative

to lend a hand for Habitat for Humanity. This outreach opportunity is for a build day at a site in Salisbury.

. Details are as follows.
A standard build work day is:
· 8:15am - 8:30am registration / orientation
· 8:30am work assignment
· 8:35pm - 12pm work
· 12pm - 1pm lunch (our youth may make lunch for us!!)
· 1pm - 3:30pm work
· 3:30pm - 4pm clean up
· Bring snacks and water with you.
· Be prepared to work outdoors, as we will be working outdoors
· Be prepared to work rain or shine.
· Bring a hat and work gloves if you have them.
· Wear boots or sneakers – no-open towed sandals or shoes.
· Safety equipment and tools will be provided, as well as training for tasks you do.
Although Habitat for Humanity builds homes, please be aware that tasks can change and/or be limited due to weather or the stage of the construction. At times, the required work may be unskilled but necessary. Volunteers between the age of 16-18 must be accompanied by an adult (21+ years old). No one under the age of 16 is allowed on the active build-site.

Gardening and Lawn Care
Volunteers Needed
May through September

Spring is here and along with the joys of summer is the joy in caring for our gardens and lawn. We hope this summer you can help in this ministry. To keep St. James property looking beautiful, we need volunteers one day a week with lawn and garden care. Can we count on you? We need volunteers beginning the third week in May through the end of September. This is also great opportunity for children to earn volunteer credits as needed for school.

Cherub Church

in the Parish Hall. It's playful worship time for "the young and restless" and their caregivers; simple and fun prayers, games, songs and togetherness! Join us when your schedule allows, come play!

Children and Youth!
Thank you to our children and youth for their participation in our Palm Sunday Passion Narrative. The Youth also served faithfully as crucifers and acolytes during Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

We offer warm congratulations to Keagan and Carlisle Mignone, who made their
First Communion
on Easter Sunday.
The siblings attended three Saturday morning sessions with Father John and Linda, which included a tour of the sacristy and our special altar accoutrements, a Godly Play lesson, and more. Speak with Father John to learn more!

Here's what our
children & youth
have been up to!
"Lent in a Bag"
: Children and adults brought home a "Lent in a Bag" containing sand, a candle, an old-fashioned clothespin, a rock, plus a length of twine and 40 beads. An info sheet invited everyone to play and pray, using these specially-chosen bits and pieces.
Families and friends enjoyed a potluck meal, good conversation, and the dyeing of 5 dozen eggs (3 ways: traditional dye, with rice, and with Cool Whip) before the Maundy Thursday service.
Our children and youth silently and respectfully washed the altar after it was stripped on Maundy Thursday, and youth remained after the service for an agape meal and activities. Thank you to Kim Potts for her help!
Easter Sunday
brought a beautiful and joyful service, complete with our youth bearing crosses, torches, flags, our Gospel book, and our historic "scallop shell" St James banner. Afterwards, little ones swarmed the Parish Hall to find 150 Easter eggs skillfully hidden for them by our youth.

PB&J = Presiding Bishop & Jamboree!
Youth from St James and the entire diocese of Massachusetts convened at the Cathedral in Boston on Saturday, April 27. Six of our own young people joined others from the LMVC, riding in to Boston on a specially chartered bus. Pizza, conversation, and plenty of excitement made for a memorable day! Ask Molly, James, Malcolm, Meghan, Gabby, or Anna what they experienced! (Or chat with Elena - she helped plan this extraordinary event! - or ask Linda; she chaperoned!)

Summer Fun Days
, July 8, 9, 10 & 15, 16, 17: Children through grade 4 enjoy half-days of music, movement, crafting, and prayers, joyfully exploring the world that God has made. The first week, at St Paul's in Newburyport, focuses on planets and stars; the second week, at St James, is all about plants, animals, and the sea!

Our Neighbors' Table
We are collecting non-perishable foods and drinks for the summer months ahead for Our Neighbors' Table. Personal items are always needed also. Items may be left in the basket at the back of the Sanctuary.
