Women Writing for (a) Change Cincinnati - May 2019 Newsletter

An Invitation to Write

I believe the first story I ever wrote was about a young girl who was terribly mistreated by her very cruel parents, and one day the girl fled to the woods to live amongst a pack of wolves. Hey, I was eleven, loved wolves, and had been grounded for what I felt was a minor infraction. Can you blame me? ~Victoria Laurie

What was the inspiration for your first story or poem? And...what would you change about it now? Go!

The Sun Shines for the
Findlay Market Art & Poetry Event!

Spoken Word competitors (left to right): Marissa Hollander, Gayle Castle, and Amuna Yisrael

Despite the stormy weather predictions, it was a gorgeous day for the Annual Findlay Market Art & Poetry Event on April 14th.

Special thanks to five writing community volunteers who worked at the information table for Women Writing for (a) Change:  Janie Baer, Julie Carpenter, Erika-Rae Griffin, Kim Sullivan, and Abby Wheeler. We also had four WWf(a)C writers compete in the Spoken Word competition:  Gayle Castle, Marissa Hollander, Amuna Yisrael, and Jah'Da.

WWf(a)C Facilitator Lisa Rocklin had the pleasure of serving as one of the five judges for the competition, which included three rounds and cash prizes to the top three finalists.

We hope to see you all next year!
