May Festivities
For my first May at Mountain Song, I’ve been truly blown away by the incredible May festivities that have brought the community together! I appreciated the passion with which parents wanted to attend the May Pole Dancing, and we were absolutely delighted to welcome families on May 1st! Even though the weather did not cooperate to hold the dancing outdoors, we were regaled by each class’s contribution in the gym. Mrs. Hassell gracefully and lovingly guided each group through the complex social intricacies of moving and weaving the ribbons.

Then on Friday, when the weather was sunny and bright, the classes delivered May baskets with flowers and notes of appreciation to our wonderful neighbors. I went out with one class and couldn’t have been happier singing with them, with lilacs blooming and Pike’s Peak sporting a pure white coat of snow against the deep blue sky as students delivered baskets. Thank you to the tireless Internal Festivals Committee!

In the meantime, the Book Faire was attracting a flock of readers for three days, overlapping with the May Faire. Ms. Grian McFadden, you are simply a wonder, inspiring our students with the finest selection of books! Then the May Faire on Saturday! What can I say? I kept telling my husband how much I love this school and community. Thank you, Parent Council, for all your outstanding efforts, and especially to Ms. Cambria Milner, Chair of the Festivals Committee. Stay tuned for pictures next week!

~With gratitude, Dr. Woods

Summer Teacher Training at Mountain Song; June 17-28
Mountain Song is initiating a 3-year summer Waldorf teacher training program starting in June 2019. The training opportunity will give Mountain Song teachers an option in addition to other training programs to gain Waldorf training.

Directing the program is Dr. Teresa Woods, MSCS principal, who has been engaged in teacher training and professional development in higher education and schools for over 20 years.

Dr. Woods has recruited a team of Waldorf experts, including those focusing on curriculum, instruction, and the arts, to converge at Mountain Song this summer to initiate the program. Plans are also underway for an artistic weekend workshop open to the public.

Stay tuned for more details!
Make Up Time For Snow Days And Delayed Starts

Mountain Song School Event Calendars
Mark your calendar with these important Mountain Song Community School dates.

As a public charter school, Mountain Song Community School is proud to provide quality Waldorf education at no cost.  Yet the funds we receive as a charter school are less than what a typical Colorado public school receives.

At the same time, we are responsible for additional expenses, such as our facilities and maintenance costs.  The expenses associated with the building lease, instructional and learning materials, staffing, special programs, and field trips continue to increase each year. In order to provide the valuable programming that makes Waldorf education exceptional, we rely on community donations to reach our annual fundraising goals. Please consider signing up for a small monthly recurring contribution today.
