Susquehanna National Heritage Area Celebration

 Columbia Crossing River Trails Center
Planning is underway for an event on the deck at Columbia Crossing to celebrate and showcase our region's new designation as a National Heritage Area. U.S. Senator Bob Casey and Congressman Lloyd Smucker are expected to attend. These representatives were essential in championing the bill through the House of Representatives and Senate. More details to come....
Creative River: Art Workshops at the River
Artist and nature-enthusiast, Diana Thomas, will lead two art workshops to explore sketching and painting. Ages 15 and older, all skill levels welcome. Materials will be provided and participants will receive a sketch book and canvas to keep. Classes will take place rain or shine. Participants must register online. Take this opportunity expand your creativity at the river. $25 per person. 
  
Pollinator Planting
Sunday May 19th from 12-4pm
Help us plant 300 flowers for native wildlife! Join Susquehanna Heritage on Sunday May 19th from 12 pm - 4pm in planting a riverside pollinator garden. Pollinators such as butterflies and bees rely on nectar-producing flowers for food and habitat. Learn how to attract butterflies, bees, and more to your own backyard. The planting will take place at the Zimmerman Center for Heritage, 4 miles south of Wrightsville. Garden gloves and some tools will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own as well. SWAY Yoga at the River
Sunset Yoga on select Thursdays and Community Yoga on select Sundays
Susquehanna Heritage and SWAY Yoga have teamed up to offer special yoga sessions at Columbia Crossing this summer. There will be Free, Community Yoga classes one Sunday a month as well as Sunset Yoga on select Thursdays.
Sunset Yoga Classes will take place on select Thursdays: May 30, June 13, July 11, & July 25, between 7 pm and 8 pm. Community Yoga Classes will take place on Sundays June 16, July 14, and August 18. These free, beginner, yoga classes are from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. 


Riverlands Trail Festival Expands along NW River Trail
June 1st 10 am to 3 pm
A group river partners has once again gotten together to host this great trail event in June. Join us on the first Saturday in June anytime between 10 am and 3 pm to hit the trail, learn about our heritage, and explore our natural and cultural resources.  On your trail adventure you'll find stops all along an 8-mile section of the trail between Columbia and Shock's Mill Bridge. Pick up a trail passport at a trail head then stop to get your passport locations to do some fun trail-side activities and be entered to win great prizes!

At Columbia Crossing, you can also watch the Chesapeake Bay Foundation CANOE CLASSIC at Columbia River Park at 11 am. High school students from across the Keystone State team up in pairs of two and put their canoeing skills to the test against other high school teams. Students in the CBF Leadership program will also have displays and activities in the park.

Some of our Susquehanna Heritage staff will be cycling to work on Friday, May 17th. We're challenging you to make an effort to cycle more and drive less. Whether you can commute on your bike, pedal to preserve your health or the environment or simply to explore your community, cycling is a healthy and green way to get around. 
Cycle the River Trail with Susquehanna Heritage
Register for our new guided bicycle tours of the NW River Trail! Have you always wondered why there's so many ruins between Columbia and Marietta? Or maybe you're curious about Chickies Rock and how it formed. Susquehanna Heritage and Rivertownes PA have teamed up for guided group rides to answer all your questions.
