TURN IN READING LOGS JUNE 4 - SEPTEMBER 1
This year's theme is "Libraries Rock." We have the following reading programs available along with a variety of programs for all ages:
  • Children's: Babies - Kids going into 6th grade (sign-up at the Youth Services Desk)
  • Teens: Students going into 7th through 12th grade (Logs available at the Circulation Desk)
  • Adults: 18+ (Logs available at the Circulation Desk)

June Special Programs
Come help us celebrate as we kick off the Summer Reading Program. We will have staff available to answer questions about searching the catalog and databases, downloading ebooks, eaudiobooks & emagazines, free online courses, signing up for a library card & more! This is a great chance to see what the library has to offer. We will also have sign-up for the Summer Reading Program and a list of summer program dates available. The program will conclude with a performance by the Germantown Community Band Dixielanders at 6:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow.

Adult Book Groups
The library offers a variety of monthly book groups for adults.  FREE coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is provide by the Friends of the Germantown Community Libray for all groups meeting at the library.

Copies of all books are available to check out at the Circulation Desk with your library card. Titles and meeting dates are subject to change. Visit the  website for additional details.

  • Books on the Town - Wednesday, June 20 @ 6:00 p.m. - The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney (Group will meet at Ally's Bistro in Menomonee Falls. Patrons will be responsible for purchase of their dinner and beverages. Registration is required. Call the library at 262-253-7760 to sign up!)

Summer Storytimes Typically Runs June 12 - August 8
PRESCHOOL STORYTIME (NEW TIMES!!!)
Tuesdays @ 9:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.
Join us for stories, movement and music geared for 3-5 year-olds followed by a craft or activity.

BABY/TODDLER STORYTIME (NEW TIMES!!!)
Wednesdays @ 9:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.
Join us for stories, movement and music geared for babies to 2 year-olds follow by playtime.

New Saturday Storytimes
STORYTIME @ THE FARMER'S MARKET
1st Satuday of the month @ 10:30 a.m.
Join us for stories, movement and music geared for children of all ages on the library's outdoor patio. Storytime will last 20-30 minutes and end with outdoor playtime. In case of inclement weather, storytime will he held in the storytime room.
  • June 2, July 7 & August 4
Learn to play the recorder! Each week we will working on beginning to read music, practice short songs, and complete music activities. We will conclude the program with a short concert on Tuesday, June 26 at 3:30 p.m. Registration required.

Join us for a new activity each week!! Registration is required.

Tuesdays, June 12 - August 7 @ 1:30 p.m.
(No class July 3)
Join us for an introduction to coding. Each week we will introduce a new programming concept, coding language and fun activity to apply new tools. Beginner and advanced coders are welcome. Registration required.

Tuesdays, July 10 – August 7 @ 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Read to Rover
Read to Rover is a great program that gives children the chance to read aloud to a dog who loves to listen. This program is geared for children going into Kindergarten through 5th grade, but all ages are welcome. Time slots are 15 minutes long.

Classical Music Conversations
Join retired music teacher and classical music enthusiast Ralph Simoneau for lively discussions of classical music composers and their music. Listen to sonatas, symphonies, concertos, canons, and more with a whole new appreciation.

Memory Cafe
Monday, June 18 @ 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

A Memory Café is a social gathering for those who are experiencing early stage dementia, mild memory loss or mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and a family member or care partner. The Café is a place to have fun, share experiences, and stay socially connected. Please RSVP through the Alzheimer's Association by calling 800-272-3900. Visit our website for details.
New App for the Monarch Catalog!!

The Monarch Library System is excited to announce the new app for the Monarch Catalog. You can now search the catalog, request items, and view your library account on the go!

Download it through the app store by searching "Monarch2Go" (it's free!!!)

Some features such as paying fines and viewing digital items are limited.
Database Feature
This month's featured database is Pronunciator  -  a fun and easy way to learn any of 80 languages in 50 languages at your own pace with self-directed lessons, live teachers, movies, music and more. Online access is available in a browser or on a computer and app for your mobile devices. Lessons are available for ages 3 through adults.

Library Outreach Services
The library will be out and about this Summer in Germantown and surrounding communities!! We will have a variety of programs including library card registration, items to check out, information about library services & programs, and kid's crafts.

Help Us Update the Children's Area
The MOMS Club of Germantown West is continuing a two year fundraising project to help maximize the space the the library's Children's Area to engage our youngest library users in early literacy, fine motor development and imaginary play.

Last year, they purchased a play kitchen, train table, and benches with storage.

Some of the items on their "Wishlist" items this summer include:
  • Puzzle storage
  • Expanded kitchen area
  • Lego table
  • Educational activities & checkout bins
  • And much more!

Join us on Saturday, June 23 at the Germantown Community Library for a special children's book reading by author Dionne Kelm at 10:30 a.m. Books will be available for purchase to benefit the Children's Area Project.
Beginning Saturday, June 2 the library will be open from
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Library will be closed on Wednesday July 4th.
The outside book drop will remain open.
